-people won't fuk with ur car out of jealousy

-won't be targeted by criminals

-people feel bad for you and treat u better

-people don't mess with you on the road, they assume you have no insurance and or poor. they will keep their distance

-can still pull sloots if you have confidence, will filter out gold digging sloots

I don't know your situation in Perth, but I have a towing service here "AAA." It pays itself off ($177/YR) by the second month, my chitboxes always need a tow.

No way, driving old beaters sucks. Even just going back to having no backup camera for a day or three while borrowing a shop's loaner car is really annoying. Then the ten million other little things, like the air systems working way worse in old beaters.

having a reliable car that won't randomly break down in the middle of no where while it's 120 degrees out is essential. Having a good sound system, built in CarPlay/bluetooth/navigation, heated seats, working AC, and adaptive cruise control makes life easier on the road.

Almost every time I see someone stopped on the shoulder it's usually someone in a chitbox with the hood popped open trying to get it back running. Imagine having to deal with that regularly

depends on the beater. if the beater is a japanese car you probably will never have any real issue.

the perfect beater/daily to me would be something like a 2012 Camry with say 130k miles. modern enough to be relatively safe. not worth enough that i'd have full coverage insurance on it. blends in on the road...probably goes another 100k miles. if it gets some dings not the end of the world.

Its practical imo. Find a good car/truck for $15k or less. I don't understand people who buy a new vehicle that is like 50% of their salary. Even if I made $200k+ I'd buy a truck in the 15k range cause I'd rather have a nice boat.

Most of my coworkers do that. They all drive brand new trucks. One guy bought a jeep hellcat that's like 700 or 900hp. I guess I could buy a nicer vehicle but don't see the point.

I bought a beater car for winter ,as I just got my truck painted and didn’t want any rust or damage to my paint.
This car was one of those 70’s horrible brown mercury monarchs, and it actually passed inspection,but the exterior rust combined with that brown paint looked horrid .
I actually lol’d at the expression on people’s faces when they seen it . But it felt good not worrying about door dings , parking , theft etc.
I was actually going to order personalized plates for it saying “ TETANUS”

I'm up to 250k miles on my 2012 Silverado. Besides my cracked window, I've only had to do basic maintenance. Oil changes, fluid flushes, brake pads, tires. Chit id have to do on a new truck, but with no car payment. I realize it's a gamble but it's been a good reliable vehicle.

look at the statistics on stolen vehicles, even to this day a lot of 90s hondas are like the most stolen cars out there, they are easier to steal and a large market for used parts.
