Again, this is false. It’s propaganda made up by communists/socialists. What if it was possible for self interest to make the economy successful and make life easier? Would that be a utopia? Well, capitalism WAS the Utopia, but the commies fugged it up, not realizing that they destroyed exactly what they thought they wanted.

Capitalism gives people the incentive of profits to produce products and services at competitive prices. In other words, their “greed” make your life easier.

This is regurgitated garbage ripped practically verbatim from the libertardian "think" tanks, specifically arguing the cases for moneyed interests to do what they please, and everyone else to fck off. Sure, it's a great plan for them, less so for you... because, as I said, the plan is "I got mine fck you". It's simply arguments for completely unregulated capitalism cloaked in the shabby facade of human caring. I support ordered capitalism under law. Capitalism unshackled by any regulation or restraints helps no one but those who already have all the capital. And despite what you have claimed previously, regulation isn't socialism, by any definition of the word.

By way of analogy, think of the Ganges. Living at the head of the Ganges is great. Chuck your garbage into the river, and never see it again. Take a nice big sht, and presto, it magically disappears. Corpses? Not a problem. Into the river they go! For the people immediately downstream, it's not ideal, but not too bad. They have to deal with the occasional bit of garbage/sewage/corpse floating past, but overall, not too bad. Plus, they can do the same. 2,000 miles downstream though, things aren't so rosey...

The people at the head of the river in this analogy would be those with all the capital. Leave aside any ideological nonsense for a brief moment and tell me, where do you honestly think you are on the river?

That's not what I said. I'm not sure why so many of you on this board read something, then proceed to immediately discard what was written and start arguing whatever your brain fizzes out at that particular second.

If you'd like, feel free to answer the question I asked though.

Give us a break with the Milton Friedman sht, would you? The guy was a scummy lobbyist who, before millions were spent burnishing his reputation, was best known as a seedy lobbyist whose shady dealing were exposed in Congressional hearings on illegal lobbying in 1950 (iirc). The guy typified the seedy dealings and corruption that so many of you guys can't stand (and rightly so).

The whole of the American libertarian "movement" is simply big business propaganda, and how and why so many have lapped this up is, to me, unfathomable.

But is the quote wrong?

This is where your arguments go horribly wrong. It’s quite possible that even if you don’t generally agree with someone, you can still agree with some of their arguments. As I’ve said in the past, I don’t agree with Marx’s conclusions, but he made a lot of observations that I think were accurate. Just because I don’t agree with his conclusions doesn’t mean I trash the entire book based on that one thing.

A true intellectual can read a piece of history, literature, etc, and pull the good information from it. Those who are consistently bias will read one thing they disagree with, or learn that the person did something wrong, and throw the whole book away. I know Milton was wrong about a lot of things. I don’t agree with everything Rothbard says. I know that there were some things that Mises got wrong, but these economists all have something to offer to see the bigger picture.

Your lack of ability to read an author like Friedman and understand that he had a lot of great ideas and information to share is a testament that you are very narrow minded. That fact that I have offered other sources, and most of what I post is a collective of ideas, thoughts, and facts written by at least a dozen authors, all to form my own thoughts and conclusions, is more thinking than you will do in your lifetime on economics. Hell, you resorted to Genges and other deflections because of how little you know about economics. You don’t even know enough to stay on topic.

Yes, it is factually wrong, as socialism and communism are 2 differing ideologies. Plus, generalisations, whilst pithy in a quote, are presumptively wrong.

The Ganges is an analogy, and you still haven't told me where you think you are on the river.

As for your "original" ideas....

Just a quick google search shows the same regurgitated fantastical views of the world that simply don't work. And again, I am not making any sort of argument for socialism. Nor have I ever. Just sensible regulation of capitalist enterprises. It bears repeating, that's not socialism.

Also, leave out the nonsense like "a true intellectual can....". It doesn't work on me. I've been around the block long enough to know what you're doing here (and have done it myself on a few occasions.

Even though I disagree with Kraken on this and some other matters, I always appreciate his efforts to make a coherent argument.

Socialism is a broader term that includes the public sector, collectives (collectives are public because they are outside of the private sector, which is the individual)the state, and communism and fascism are specifically outlined policies involving the public sector and state. In other words, they fall under the umbrella of socialism.

Trying to separate communism and socialism is “newspeak”, and ideologically nonsensical.

For example, State control over the means of production is socialism, but wage laws are fascist. Labor is a part of the means of production. The communist doesn’t believe that labor is part of the means of production, but economists agree that it is. Communists can’t recognize this because then their narrative and agenda falls apart without making that distinction.

Another example is that Unions are socialist, but syndicalism is fascist.

All that said, the definitions you use are specific to your ideology. If you’re a socialist, you will obviously try to distance yourself from communism.

No, this is wrong.Communismis the state having control over the means of production, socialism isthe workers having shared ownership/control over the means of production. They're two different things. BTW, there are some coops, albeit not many, in America that fit the definition of socialism more accurately. I know a lot of people seem to conflate the idea of any societal good, such as police/firefighters, social welfare nets as socialism, but it's not correct. Simply because a service may be a "social good" does not make them socialism.

I do cede the point that every developed nation does have some small "communistic elements" (at the very broad edge of the definition) if you include items like transport, roads etc (which are also a means of production, albeit one that's generally ignored), but to describe that as "communism" is stretching the definition to it's very breaking point

If I could beg the question... how far would you be willing to extend your ideological stance? Complete deregulation of everything?

An economics degree. Plus they're just the generally accepted definitions. You can google them if you like.

Look, I do know where it comes from, Marx and Lenin used the term interchangeably, but I consider it lazy and not at all accurate, but then again, Marx and Lenin were propagandising, so there's that to consider. I consider that there's enough fundamental difference between the two to delineate them, given that communism is also a type of government rather than just an economic system. Marx and Lenin used ideas like the means of production being controlled by the people, but when they said 'the people' it turns out they really meant 'the people' as in 'the state'. Like I said... propagandising.

We may be working under differing definitions here (or mine more rigid than yours), but you can see where I would say an example of a coop, outside of government controlling that means of production, but controlled by the working people directly involved is, for mine, socialism (and good on them if they choose to do that), whereas Cold War USSR, with complete overarching governmental control over the means of production is communism.

But you keep asking me questions, and haven't yet I think answered any of mine.

You choose what % you are in?

So I can choose to become a billionaire and join the 1%?

Hard work is good, but using a system that by design, will lead to most people suffering while 1% make all the gains is not sustainable nor successful. Many people will work hard but still not be able to keep up.

No normal person wants to live in a society that people are allowed to peddle poison to their fellow man in order to make a few bucks. The reason you cucks don't see a problem with this is because of the demoralization campaign conducted against you for generations. Americans have no connection to god, land, or their people. You don't even have a people. This is why it is so foreign for you to imagine a country where people were honest and cared about each other; working together instead of working against one another.

As long as you cucks think that someone's pursuit to make money is more important than the health and survival of the community he belongs to (capitalism), then you will never live in a healthy society. Instead you can continue to enjoy being surrounded by mentally ill, drug addicted, criminal, obese, and suicidal shells of people.

Think about the world you're bringing your kids up in, is this the future you want for them?

You don't even have a people. This is why it is so foreign for you to imagine a country where people were honest and cared about each other; working together instead of working against one another.

As long as you cucks think that someone's pursuit to make money is more important than the health and survival of the community he belongs to (capitalism), then you will never live in a healthy society. Instead you can continue to enjoy being surrounded by mentally ill, drug addicted, criminal, obese, and suicidal shells of people.

Think about the world you're bringing your kids up in, is this the future you want for them?
Already addressed these typical emotional socialist talking points. "But thuh children!!". An economy couldn't possibly have any solutions at all, it must all come from the gubment, right? Our healthcare is on the brink of collapse because of how inefficient and ineffective government healthcare is, but thuh children!

Hard work is good, but using a system that by design, will lead to most people suffering while 1% make all the gains is not sustainable nor successful. Many people will work hard but still not be able to keep up.

Billionaire is not the top 1%. Its the top 0.00000000001%.

1% only requires around a 600k household income I believe, that is not hard to attain in this world.

Wealth is NOT a zero sum game, a handful of people having billions does not stop you from creating a net worth of 5-10 million

We need to stop punishing success in this nation, 1% of the population paying 40% of the income taxes is straight up exploitation. Eliminate EMTALA, get rid of Medicaid/Medicare, drop all entitlement programs, this is just a step in the right direction.

Milton Friedman lol.

Libertarianism has no popularity and what you want will never happen.

The big problem with capitalism is it cares about nothing but money and materialism. Elites used capitalism to turn America fat, retarded and multi racial.

LOL the US is not a capitalist country. We are a command economy where the government uses printed money and taxation as a way to manipulate what is made and what we buy. Then those who benefit from this system lobby the politicians to print/tax to their benefit. That's how the rich get so rich and powerful, not just from capital investment. Proof positive is just to look at how wealthy our politicians are.

Once again, we could get back on topic. If you were Superman, how much would you interfere in society? Would you help stop crime, would you dismantle governments, would you force everyone to live in peace, or do you believe that interference just causes more harm than good? Where would you draw the line?

I'll start; I thought about the idea that if the people wanted freedom from their government, I would give it to them. But then I realized that if a people cannot take their freedom, or fight for it, then they do not deserve it. if people were to fight for their freedom, and the government would use the military on them, I would probably intervene at that point. This includes the US, and I also consider the FBI, the CIA etc. as arms of the military.

I don't think I would get involved much in fighting crime, because the people can handle crime. But I would thoroughly enjoy dismantling governments

certainly better than parroting socialist catch phrases, slogans, and talking points that you've been brainwashed with your entire life, as if they were original thoughts. But that's the point of indoctrination; not realizing your brain was trained to think that way. When you hear the truth, it's so foreign that it sounds outlandish.

The real eye opener is reading the books I posted and realizing you've been fed a lie your entire life.

Please enlighten me on a free market capitalist solution for landlocked resource poor countries that doesn't involve exploiting and enslaving their people. Fking liberal idiots like Kraken have zero clue. On the one hand, you defend a system and pretend to be antiwar, and on the other, you recognize that your system literally only exists because of the world's most disgustingly powerful military forcing everyone to go along with this scheme at gunpoint. Hurr durr free market. Yeah I am sure it's real free. Grow the fuk up. Also, we don't have a continuum of firms, labor cannot be easily fungible, and there are a whole bunch of other issues that prevent capitalism from working properly and allocating goods in even a pareto optimal way, let alone an efficient way that promotes human scientific progress and peace.

I recognize you lack the math background to even understand what I am talking about on a technical level tho so fukit.
