There are plenty of 'stay at home wives' that are absolutely miserable. So you're right and the duracel brah above is right too. It's not one size fits all. If you've built a relationship on love, mutual respect, adaptive and open communication, working on seeing eye to eye on the big things, fair division of labor, open-mindedness, and not being afraid to address issues when they manifest instead of letting them burrow in and grow and infect like a cancer, it doesn't matter if one of you is a stay at home spouse/parent or not. You make it work. There are plenty of spouses who both work/parents who both work and raise children and are doing just fine. At the same time, there are plenty of people who've chosen the stay at home route and make it work as well. Flip side of the coin is that there are also many that don't make it work. You win some, you lose some.
