I grind all mine.

Makes great meat sauce, lasagna, etc.

I find the flavor very mild. I don't mix fat with it as it does have some marbling.

Deer with fat and tallow left on is a way stronger, gamey taste

Have read the fishing there is awesome since the country has been so isolated it hasn’t had the fishing pressures of other places

WW3 could kick off tomorrow, 3/4s of the world’s population could get nuked. And it wouldn’t change a thing in his daily life. Probably take him a few weeks to find out about it.

Possible.

Because of how it looked, i think it has a slightly better chance of being this dermal sarcoma disease..

I caught this fish last year. Was 3/4" smaller. Identified it by that mark.

I took off with a local fella and fished from shore last year. We did ok. Grilled what we caught at his cousins restaurant.

Didn't even bring a rod this time. Just chilling of the beach and rotting lol

I'm actually only 3 hrs drive north of Toronto.

While I do all the stuff I do, the internet makes it so easy to stay on top of things.

It wouldn't change much for me tho, that's true. Might have to paddle the canoe a bit more if gas becomes unavailable

It’s just a doe and a button buck laying on the grass, field-dressed

Butchered them myself with help from someone who knows what they’re doing

Got about 60lbs of meat, amazing beautiful perfect organic delicious red meat

PETA can go fuk themselves LOL LOL LOL

I do respect and understand people who choose to eat a vegan or vegetarian diet. My issue is with militant animal rights types who think we shouldn’t be able to hunt.

Nothing better than enjoying a meal made from the animal you killed

Filling your body with sustenance, a glorious thing we take for granted in the age of supermarkets

This is how it used to be done if you wanted to eat meat, AKA not merely survive on gruel

Lots of technology goes into it, but I'd like to think I'd be closer to the primitive stuff than the average person.

It’s meant to be about more than just the meat. You’re supposed to understand something from the process of taking a life to putting food on the table. Being detached from that takes a lot of perspective away from people about the nature of life and death, and their own existence.

Apologies for getting philosophical about it, but I do believe what I said.

And to OP: mirin. Not sure if I could kill young game, but I get it.

Been doing some lake trout fishing. A couple areas are open water, so went in the boat as well as on the ice.

Got some giants. All went back so far.

Also, I need a hair cut lol

Mirin, srs. I never really got into fishing... not really my thing. I did take a fly fishing course with a buddy once, but still meh. One thing I do want to try though is ice fishing. Some good trout ice fishing up the the Adirondacks in NY by a sportsman's club I go to every now and then. One day

I never got into fly fishing either. Consistently catching big fish is hard enough without handicapping yourself with a fly rod! Although, I can see the appeal I guess.

Ice fishing is great, but this year its been super warm with chitty unsafe ice everywhere. Lots of people going through and drowning this year.

Got my buck in archery this year on Public land...had a seperate thread awhile back. Getting ready for thunder chickens coming up. No snowshoe this year because of global warming
