Can Misc recommend any FPS games

I want to play offline and go through campaigns, no multiplayer . My favourites were Crysis , MOH and COD back in the day . Unreal tournament and Mech Warrior were pretty cool back then to.
I can’t remember the last time I played games , but I’m thinking it was around 2005, so it will be interesting to see what the graphics are like now . I was debating to get a 1440 res monitor, and may consider an Oled monitor .

FYI I’m looking at getting a new computer that should support every game out there .

I liked it quite a bit, forgot the Doom 3 would scare the chit outta me, liked it, but difficult to see, Eternal is just eye popping fun action.

they are insane and it's also insane how optimized doom eternal is, especially with vulkan.

here is a vid with a guy running a 1070 (lmao) at 1080p with ultra graphics maxed out. still averaging nearly 100 fps. just insane how well engineered doom eternal is

Insurgency Sandstorm is a good military FPS right now that isn't COD, and it's got some good offline bot support. Trepang 2 is a great action FPS with sort of a military theme, bit more sci-fi if you were familiar with stuff like FEAR. Then there's Ground Branch and Ready or Not which are fantastic tactical FPS. All of those are fun for single player.

Steam is basically the standard for PC gaming these days. Epic Store is probably the best alternative, though they're both the same. I'm sure Steam is a lot different from how it was when you last used it. GameSpy is some old school ass chit, that's been dead for a long time.

Ya aware gamespys ded for a long time now, just brought back memories.
Back in the day I recall I couldn’t even get a game to work offline if you didn’t have an internet connection.
I thought that was brutal not letting you play a single player game that you paid for

Prey and Metro Exodus are the best single player FPS games I've played in years.
Both are available on most systems and are constantly going on sale.

Doom Eternal and Titanfall 2 were great too.

I wish we got more WW1 and WW2 single player experiences these days.

Yes I like those types of games . I find other games are too arcadeish , if that’s a word .
But I did get a kick out of unreal tournament, so I’ll probably get into these new games .
The graphics look sick

Shadow warrior 2 - this game is so slept on, think doom or serious sam with magic, guns and mele, with a great story and alot of rated r cheesy humor. Like a b movie satire on Asian fantasy. Pretty in depth character leveling as well. One of my favorites of all time. Can be hard as **** if you want it to be.

Steam is quite good about that these days, seems to work fine offline most of the time. No real way to get around that with modern PC games anyways, physical gaming died out a long time ago and everyone uses launchers.

I'd highly recommend Halo 3 and Halo Reach, don't bother with later releases, 4, 5 and Infinite are throwaway games.

Thing is if you're on PC I don't know if H3 and Reach are available outside of their Master Chief Collection releases.

By the way, I remember Game Spy also, those were the last great days for PC gaming. Now they want you to install all this extra software so they can basically monitor you and mine your data. I have never installed Steam, nor will I ever. I don't know if you played any Blizzard stuff, I.E. Star Craft / Star Craft Broodwar, or Warcraft 3, but back then they had Battle.net as a free service - the video game industry has become egregiously anti consumer over the past 10+ years.

If you want a truly atmospheric experience on the PC, I highly recommend Doom 3. Shut the lights off, put on your head phones and get ready for one hell of a ride, no pun intended.

I mean I should have an internet connection at all times regardless. ,I just hated how they held you at bay by doing that. Thought it should have been illegal tbh .

Halo Infinite. The electric fast paced gameplay and the amount of stuff you can do in this game makes it king. I've also yet to see a better looking and more polished game on an OLED.

Doom Eternal feels like it was built around typical modern gaming conventions, like they had a team of people come up with the game design who basically found ways to manipulate people into having the typical cheap dopamine hit session of today. Like forcing you to platform to different arena areas where you fight, the limited ammo so you have to use different weapons all the time or melee, basic puzzles, it's just they're just constantly trying to hand out gold stars. Compare that to the past when they just gave you a path to follow, collecting keys and blasting enemies along your way. Feels like it was made for a different audience.

Definitely was tweaked to reach other people, even aesthetically it was more colorful, heavy on the purple and pinkish tones that are more popular nowadays
