The trial data and approval suggest otherwise.

Nobody has suggested Ozempic for teens, in general.

Tell us why losing muscle mass and bone density is a good thing. Tell us why all the negative side effects are a good thing. Tell us why when someone stops taking it, they regain the weight being a good thing.

You haven't yet shared why you think 30% of weight lost is bone and muscle -for everyone

Of course losing muscle mass and bone density are not good.

However, suggesting these effects are universal and without any possible mitigation strategies seems disingenuous.

Of course negative side effects are not good.

I would say that's why these decisions should be made with critical evaluation of the case, and the assistance of a professional, to weigh the risks against the benefits.

Why do people still engage with that ******* JLC?? For all we know, he disagrees with giving teens ozempic and his only goal in this thread is to troll people. He did the exact same thing in the meat consumption linked to diabetes thread. Exactly zero percent desire to have meaningful discussion and 100 percent desire to just troll. The fact people even interact with him at all kind of blows my mind.

This is what you're supporting.

Ozempic Can Cause Major Loss of Muscle Mass and Reduce Bone Density

https://www.healthline.com/health-ne...scle-mass-loss

Weight-loss drugs like Ozempic and Wegovy may be risky for older people because they melt away all-important muscles, experts say

https://fortune.com/well/2023/09/27/...eople-over-65/

On stopping the drug, many people regain weight in the form of fat. This leaves them with net muscle loss.

In an 18-month trial, patients receiving Ozempic lost about eight kilograms of fat and about five kilograms of muscle.

And here’s the twist. Because they lost more fat than muscle, their lean mass relative to fat mass increased by 3 per cent. This was positive.

"clinical trials involving the new drugs — indicate that physical activity is still an essential part of someone’s overall health plan."

Physical activity in the new era of antiobesity medication

"Physical activity may attenuate the loss of lean mass that is observed with AOM treatments and may enhance the quality and function of muscle. Physical activity is a key behavior for holistic health within this era of contemporary AOMs that warrants appropriate attention within the clinical care of patients."

I responded to multiple posts in a single reply.

I have posted plenty about working out over the years. If you're that interested in what I talk about, do a better job of tracking my activity over the 20 years I've been on here.

You have options if you don't like what I post

This thread is about OP being upset that Ozempic has been approved as an option for morbidly obese teens.

I shared the source material on the trials and FDA decision

Love the lying.

"This thread is the OP upset and screaming that ONLY morbidly grossly hugely overweight teens are getting life saving treatments!!!!" -JLC making chit up

Stop making up chit, lying and putting words in my mouth, thank you. Can you do that? I do not think you are capable of such a simple request. That's not in you. You are simply not capable of that low level of basic integrity and honesty, are you?

Shill.

Kinda weird to post an actual quote and a fake quote along with it.

A drug was approved. It would appear you got upset about the approval without reviewing any of the pertinent information.

And I shared the FDA's warning and side effects of the drug. Just because something is approved, does not make it safe. It's a corrupt industry..

None, my blood A1C was very good last time I checked. I forget, but below 5.7

However, I do have a SIL who is a type 2 diabetic. I've seen her over the years being treated with insulin shots, metformin and recently, ozempic. In her case, she is a rare case where she is not responding to other treatments. I see how she eats (it's generally clean), but whatever she does her blood glucose skyrockets. Save with ozempic, that is recent but does seem to be working.

Which, for someone who is doing the right things like eating right, who is not responding to other traditional treatments, in this rare case: Ozempic might be a very good thing, which is exactly what it was created for. The problem, greedy executives saw that a side-effect was massive weight loss - and here we are.

The meme was showcasing the corruption in the field...specifically Pharma ties to FDA..but don't worry, Pfizer is coming out with their version of Ozempic as well if that makes you feel better

Do you think it's odd that you're upset about a medication being approved that has directly benefited someone you know?
