Washington had double the amount of overdose deaths than Oregon had in 2023.

I live right next to Portland, I used to go downtown all the time back in 2014-15 but by 2018 downtown wasn't worth visiting. After BLM riots and lockdowns, it became a wasteland. Exactly. Overdose increases in a few states is higher than where it's decriminalized. That's not to suggest that Oregon decriminalizing it made their increases lower than those state - my guess is those states were higher before Oregon decriminalized.

What's higher in Oregon post-decriminalization is addicts don't give a shiit if people see them do it because they won't be arrested, so they shoot up right in front of families and shiit. The new law that will pass will cite them with a misdemeanor ticket and confiscation of the drugs (that should have been in the original law that passed).

They are not the largest increase in the country; the other two states in that part you bolded have a higher increase in death rate from drug overdoses. I got my numbers from the CDC. Where did you get yours, son?

Of course there's no point to further discussion. I just showed you two states that had a bigger increase in fent overdoses than the decriminalized state, which crumbled your initial argument.

You want me to state that decriminalizing drugs will increase drug use, but you have not provided data that proves that. Until you do, I won't commit to a yes answer.

Personally, I don't think decriminalizing is the answer nor do I think the current "solutions" are the answer, but not because I think either will lead to more drug use.

As of Jan 22, 2024, Oregon says the 2023 numbers are not yet complete.
