Washington had double the amount of overdose deaths than Oregon had in 2023.
The increase in deaths from 2022 to 2023 was 40% in Washington; the increase in deaths from 2022 to 2023 in Oregon was 38%.
Nevada had a higher increase in deaths than Oregon did from 2022 to 2023.
More than half the states in America have had an increase in overdose deaths from 2022 to 2023.
With that said, have you figured out what the real problem is yet, son?

Analogy. NYC goes super soft on crime and makes changes to system which result in violent offenders immediately being dumped back out onto the street. Violent crime rates go up. Then someone goes “omg retard, violent crime is going up in other places too so that can’t be a contributing factor for NYC!!”.
Yeah, you sound that dumb.

Your NY analogy proves my point: when druggies don't get have to go through the system, they're out on the streets visibly doing drugs, hence why visibility is higher.

Yes. I know better. The change being made is to confiscate personal amounts so that druggies such as yourself will hide their usage so their drugs don't get confiscated.

But again, perhaps you should write the citizens and legislators in that area and tell them they’re completely wrong in thinking that approach helped contribute to more problems.
Just lol, give it up

The only reason they're trying to change the law is because people are openly doing it front of everyone. That's it. Has nothing to do with the increase, as other states have increased even more. Now you know, son.

PDX brah here: the emergency deflation doesn’t actually mean or do anything, is just political BS. I was over on the East side last night and still glad I live on the west side, would never live in Multnomah county it’s where most of the crime and homelessness is.

I live right next to Portland, I used to go downtown all the time back in 2014-15 but by 2018 downtown wasn't worth visiting. After BLM riots and lockdowns, it became a wasteland. What almost nobody is covering is how Antifa operates like a mafia and threatens businesses and government officials and even cops into giving them what they want.

but is the increase significant compared to states that haven't decriminalized drugs in 2023?

What's higher in Oregon post-decriminalization is addicts don't give a shiit if people see them do it because they won't be arrested, so they shoot up right in front of families and shiit. The new law that will pass will cite them with a misdemeanor ticket and confiscation of the drugs (that should have been in the original law that passed).

Now with counterfeit oxy's, random street labs making pills, dealers mixing fent in junk, they don't know how strong of a dose they're taking and people are dropping. A suburb kid with no opioid tolerance and taking what he or she thinks is molly could drop dead.

Oregon and Washington state had the highest rate of increase in fatalities due to ******** poisoning (13x the national average) and drug overdose compared to the prior year.
Oregon had the highest rate of increase in ******** deaths in the nation with a one-year increase of more than 67 percent, compared to a national average of 5 percent.
But you’re right, I’m sure their policies have nothing to do with it.

PORTLAND Ore. (KPTV) - Overdose deaths and deaths from ******** poisoning reached all-time highs in 2023, according to newly released CDC data.
According to CDC estimates of fatalities through April 2023, 31 states and the District of Columbia saw more ******** and synthetic opioid deaths in 2023 than the year prior. 29 states saw more overdose deaths in 2023 than in the prior year, with Oregon and Washington in the lead among those states.

Data Table for Figure 1b: Percent Change in 12 Month-ending Count of Drug Overdose Deaths, by Jurisdiction
Washington 40.0%
Nevada 37.9%
Oregon 37.5%
So, as you can see, during the rolling 12 month period in August, Washington took back the lead.
It's hilarious that you're trying to assert that a 2% difference is due to decriminalization when Oregon leads by 2%, but also trying to say it's irrelevant when Oregon is behind by 2%.
The truth is it does not matter. At. All. Son.

Just like the policies in Nevada affect their rates. Policies in Washington affect their rates. Policies in Oregon affect their rates. You seem to think it doesn’t so at this point we’ll just agree to disagree.
Of course you want to agree to disagree now that you've posted information on your own that shows 29 states have had an increase in overdose deaths in their respective states because it highlights the real problem, which isn't political.
Deepfat: "I guarantee I beat you by at least 6 strokes. Afterwards, I'll slide my thick conservative cawk in your old lady just to finish the job."
z4: "So when are you available in September to play?"
Deep: "On second thought, I don't play golf with broads. You're such a scumbag that I'd be much more inclined to just slap the chit out of you."
z4: "MMA match works, too. So when are you available this month?
Deep: "I won't subject myself to being in the presence of a scumbag."

Now you've moved goalposts from "Decriminalization caused Oregon to have the highest increase in overdose deaths, so decriminalization causes more drug use" to "Well, okay, but those are liberal shiitholes, too."

You want me to state that decriminalizing drugs will increase drug use, but you have not provided data that proves that. Until you do, I won't commit to a yes answer.
Personally, I don't think decriminalizing is the answer nor do I think the current "solutions" are the answer, but not because I think either will lead to more drug use.

As of Jan 22, 2024, Oregon says the 2023 numbers are not yet complete.

I just found z4's CDC data for Washington, Oregon and Nevada.
For each of those three states it says:
*Underreported due to incomplete data*Underreported due to incomplete data
https://www.cdc.gov/nchs/nvss/vsrr/d...rdose-data.htm
Nice job, tardo.
