Pfizer drops India vaccine application after regulator seeks local trial

Pfizer drops India vaccine application after regulator seeks local trial
https://www.reuters.com/article/idUS...nicity%20study.

There are only a few people in this small country, I just don't see how such a tiny population demands extra expensive trials done, especially when JLC has repeatedly proven the vaccine trials are the most secure and conclusive trials ever done. I'm sure that is why Pfizer withdrew the application.
All truth passes through three stages. First, it is ridiculed. Second, it is violently opposed. Third, it is accepted as being self-evident.

You know your product is trash when you don’t even make a decent effort to tap into the world’s two largest markets(India and China).

The drug regulator said on its website its experts did not recommend the vaccine because of side effects reported abroad were still being investigated. It also said Pfizer had not proposed any plan to generate safety and immunogenicity data in India.

No. Pfizer chose not to run a full phase 3 trial in India. They haven't reversed their decision.

I mean hopefully even leftists know the country where they poop in the street and don’t eat with their left hand cuz that’s their private poop shovel is a bit backwards.

Seems like a place where you could find over a billion potential clients, and we know how much Pfizer loves money. Seems odd that they’d forego that kind of potential if they feel good about what their clinical trials would look like in an area not corrupted by their influence.

"In January 2023, Pfizer withdrew its emergency use bid of its COVID-19 vaccine in India due to delays due to requests from its manufacturers for indemnity clauses from Indian authorities."

So Pfizer gave up a year ago because they could be legally held responsible in India for side effects or deaths.

I dunno that they'd have a billion customers. But, a Phase 3 trial is very expensive, especially since they have to find the resources to run everything locally. I dunno. Seems they didn't think it was worth it.

Immune from prosecution in the US, while India refused to indemnify Pfizer without local trials. No ****** customers so I'm not surprised the rotating door between Pfizer and the FDA had the FDA recommending them for young people. Gotta make up the lost potential profit from India by jabbing people with no need for the jabs in the US.

The damage the FDA has done to its reputation in the last few years is irreparable. Not just with these jabs but with its fast approval of Aduhelm, an incredibly expensive Alzheimer's drug. Two of their top members of their approval board quit in protest over that. The loss of trust in the FDA can't come back within decades, if ever.

Huh?

The average per-participant cost for a clinical trial in the US is ~$40-45k.

The initial trial had 43,548 participants.

You’d assume they’d have the most amazing immune system living in that over populated Petri dish , and wouldn’t need a vaccine , and could eat Ebola for breakfast

Cost in India would be ~10-20% of the US per participant. And not as many participants would be in an Indian trial. It would have cost Pfizer $100-200 million dollars to have access to the Indian market, a country 4x US population. India refused to let Pfizer be immune from prosecution for adverse events, so they withdrew their requests after trying for two years to be immune from prosecution.

Wouldn't the number of participants be determined with a power/sample-size estimation for the stated endpoints?

Their phase 3 trial was powered to detect a 30% effectiveness.

You think they were going to demand 170,000 participants after Pfizer had been approved in western nations? Especially in the first half of 2021 when the results seemed very promising? Even in that highly questionable scenario we're talking less than a Billion spent. Pfizer could have grossed tens of Billions from approval in India. India refused to indemnify them, so they said fuk it.

I see I've missed nothing worthwhile having you on my ignore list. No need for me to click 'view post' again.

Yeah, I get that some folks get upset about facts .

Dunno where you pulled 170,000 participants from, but I don't think it was a principled sample size estimate

If it was so safe and effective, then why pull it from the Indian markets??? Talking about a potential for tens of billions of dollars in profit.
