The whole appeal of consoles is that you throw a couple hundred bucks at a new one when they release and just forget about any hardware purchases until the next gen comes out. It's a cheap and - mostly -reliable way to take care of your gaming needs.
And even if they released some super duper turbopro version of a console at 1,5x or at double (lol) price - let's not even touch how much money companies would lose per console sale - it still wouldn't be worth schit since all the games are still bottlenecked by the poverty versions.

You just give the consumer the choice outright if they want the standard version or the premium version. Again it's not a Series S vs Series X situation, as the S was clearly just a "Lite" and not even a standard version.
Unreal 5 is huge, so far raytracing seems overrated to me though. If it's actually a big difference in pricing of hardware 4 years later that's a valid reason not to release both on release. They're probably better off just not doing pro versions at all tbh.

For those of us who are casual console users, or i it's a secondary platform... I'm annoyed by it. I don't play it enough to warrant buying a pro and now I know I'm not even gunna get the best console experience with my mid tier box... I'm just Gunna go back to pc and say fuk these consoles. Easy decision.

The other thing everyone would cry about is that they'll think games will be built and optimized for the expensive box while their cheaper box will get the inferior version of the game. The backlash would be insane.

It's not gonna be acceptable to people who pay $500...esp if the pro model is WAY more expensive at $750 which puts it solidly out of their price range. People would be mad as fuk.Except it's not the poverty box. Games would be built and optimized for the $500 standard console.

You say you're a casual console player but you conveniently omit the major context that you're also a huge tech nerd with a monster pc setup, VR chamber and racing sim pod with lightshows everywhere..so obviously you're at the bleeding edge of gaming tech. It definitely bothers you to not have the best machine available but you don't quite care enough about consoles to spend $600 or sell your PS5 and spend $300. You don't represent the average console owner at all.
Meanwhile, you will foam at the mouth to throw a couple grand at Nvidia to preorder a 5090 only 2 years after owning your beyond capable 4090.

If you're the hardware dev you make it clear the distinction, as well as the plan that both will be viable for the duration of the console's life-cycle, and the Pro is just for higher resolution or better performance/future proofing. Again it's much less frustrating buying 1 console at an increased price that lasts 7-8 years rather than a standard on release and a pro 3-4 years later. If it's not cost feasible for devs to do that, that's fine and I accept that, but in that case they shouldn't do pro versions at all.

If Microsoft changed the names to:
Series Standard - $350
Series Pro - $500
People will still see the "standard" as the poverty box. It doesn't matter what you name them, when people spend $500 they want to know they have the premium console at launch. They will feel like 2nd class citizens if $750 is the new premium - a price most will not be able to afford.
