I mean take plants for example, many have evolved to have defensive properties that harm other living things that could harm them. If plants had no reason to prioritize self-interest that would have never happened, they would have never developed defensive properties, for the greater good of everything around them. Then look at animals, threaten and corner them and they will all act in self defense in some way or the other. Nothing that lives could have survived without these instincts and developments, it's a product of evolution. Only though complete isolation can defensive developmental needs lessen in priority, but that opens them up to being destroyed by any foreign invader. Even then, all things evolve around self-sustenance which is a form of self-interest.
So we agree.

If you started a brand new society under communism it would work for a time, but quickly devolve into class warfare at a far more rapid pace than something like capitalism.

So in summary, there are those that believe human nature can fundamentally shift, allowing Marxism to succeed, and those who believe humans will not be fit for such a system, ever, because we have directly evolved to oppose it.

I’ll put myself in the latter boat, with the exception that we might big brain ourselves artificially to perhaps get there in another few millennia, using some ethically dubious technology and medical advancements. And that’s still not a guarantee of anything, just improving the odds.

I don't think we'll ever get there. You can't change nature, and if you try to fight nature, nature will always win.

Lol @ thinking you can control and dictate the course of evolution to do what it has never done. That and evolution takes so long I doubt civilization will even be around if people ever do evolve.

Face it, your ideas are stupid.

The closest you could manage would be something like the movie equilibrium. You would have to indoctrinate everybody from birth and medicate the entire population.

You would have to kill the desire to compete. The problem is that without that desire to compete, no technological improvements would be made, nothing would move forward in the arts etc and the majority of the population would LDAR.

An external civilisation would then just conquer you.
Screw nature; my body will do what I DAMN WELL tell it to do!

The only dangerous thing about an exercise is the person doing it.

They had the technology to rebuild me. They made me better, stronger, faster......

Yup, once again nature doing it's thing. Too much isolation weakens things and opens them up to foreign invasion from things outside of the controlled opposition.

The irony is Bodhy would be the first person the communists would execute, because, by his own admission, he's heavily autistic and can't hold a job for more than a week before he melts down and quits.

These leeches have no place in a communist society.

This was my point, too. I think the greatest downfall of commiunims is that it doesn't appreciate human nature. Hence why I mentioned game theory in my OP. If 1000 people all work for a greater good, everyone benefits. But someone will slack off and still reap benefits of hard work, then 2 people, 4 people etc.

That's where you invariably have to deploy the stick rather than carrot to keep it working. There's no intrinsic motivator to work harder since you can't yield material gain, so to keep working you need to be threatened with the gulag.

And then there is the impossibility of value and ideology alignment. How can a massive society have people all agree on what to produce? Everyone will have different opinions. And to set prices from a central controller puts the value of products into the hands of a few.

Unless you have some magical idealised people with aligning ideologies and values, you ultimately will need dictatorial methods to keep it in line. But, Wincel disagrees and thinks you don't need this for successful communism.

I still haven't seen how this is going to work and he got banned before he could elaborate.
Back off, Warchild.

Even Bodhy, a user that everyone seems to hate on for his left wing views, thinks communism is a highly flawed ideology that is destined to become a dictatorship. Says a lot really. The only reason Wincel was defending it is because he is so utterly brainwashed and indoctrinated into the ideology that he will perform the mental gymnastics needed to promote it whenever possible.

There's no new sign ups? Funny how Wincel always seems to create that policy around here. Honestly, with all the new troll accounts we get, that will probably just make this a better community. I'm sure Wincel got himself banned the same way he usually does, being an unhinged psycho. That and he's a permabanned user so for him to have an active account here goes against the rules.

Seems like about 95% of "new users" are wincel alts or some other old troll alts. Only once in a blue moon do we get a genuine new user who is actually a real user that just wants to hang out here.

The last remotely new individual I remember is Felix the Cat and even he is definitely someone's alt. Given that he came to the forum with the foreknowledge that Bodhy Derangement Syndrome was the recipe for reps.

Von Mises - lol

Doesn't change the fact that individual liberty/freedom is a primary tenet of Marxism.

Much like yourself showed up one day in 2020 with a lot of previous knowledge. Although, you didn't really seem to be going after FtC for this, more just pointing out the obviousness of it.

Felix doesn't bother me but he is disturbingly prolific with thread-creation. Not that all my threads are bullseyes either, but that cat sure makes a lot - and not just in this section, either.
All truth passes through three stages. First, it is ridiculed. Second, it is violently opposed. Third, it is accepted as being self-evident.
