How could communism and Marxism actually work?

For someone who is trying to talk about concepts like evolution, that is literally one of the most universal evolutionary concepts. I mean take plants for example, many have evolved to have defensive properties that harm other living things that could harm them. If plants had no reason to prioritize self-interest that would have never happened, they would have never developed defensive properties, for the greater good of everything around them. Then look at animals, threaten and corner them and they will all act in self defense in some way or the other. Nothing that lives could have survived without these instincts and developments, it's a product of evolution. Only though complete isolation can defensive developmental needs lessen in priority, but that opens them up to being destroyed by any foreign invader. Even then, all things evolve around self-sustenance which is a form of self-interest.

So in summary, there are those that believe human nature can fundamentally shift, allowing Marxism to succeed, and those who believe humans will not be fit for such a system, ever, because we have directly evolved to oppose it.
I’ll put myself in the latter boat, with the exception that we might big brain ourselves artificially to perhaps get there in another few millennia, using some ethically dubious technology and medical advancements. And that’s still not a guarantee of anything, just improving the odds.

The closest you could manage would be something like the movie equilibrium. You would have to indoctrinate everybody from birth and medicate the entire population.
You would have to kill the desire to compete. The problem is that without that desire to compete, no technological improvements would be made, nothing would move forward in the arts etc and the majority of the population would LDAR.
An external civilisation would then just conquer you.

Screw nature; my body will do what I DAMN WELL tell it to do!
The only dangerous thing about an exercise is the person doing it.
They had the technology to rebuild me. They made me better, stronger, faster......

The irony is Bodhy would be the first person the communists would execute, because, by his own admission, he's heavily autistic and can't hold a job for more than a week before he melts down and quits.
These leeches have no place in a communist society.

Everyone who develops a savior complex becomes a control freak.
That's where you invariably have to deploy the stick rather than carrot to keep it working. There's no intrinsic motivator to work harder since you can't yield material gain, so to keep working you need to be threatened with the gulag.
And then there is the impossibility of value and ideology alignment. How can a massive society have people all agree on what to produce? Everyone will have different opinions. And to set prices from a central controller puts the value of products into the hands of a few.
Unless you have some magical idealised people with aligning ideologies and values, you ultimately will need dictatorial methods to keep it in line. But, Wincel disagrees and thinks you don't need this for successful communism.
I still haven't seen how this is going to work and he got banned before he could elaborate.
Back off, Warchild.

Doesn't change the fact that individual liberty/freedom is a primary tenet of Marxism.

Felix doesn't bother me but he is disturbingly prolific with thread-creation. Not that all my threads are bullseyes either, but that cat sure makes a lot - and not just in this section, either.
All truth passes through three stages. First, it is ridiculed. Second, it is violently opposed. Third, it is accepted as being self-evident.
