Something is off about the solar system model...
If we're looking top down at the solar system, earth revolves around the sun.
When earth is at the, let's call it, southern position of the model, there is a dark side of the earth. So let's focus on midnight in this position.
Well, after 180 full rotations, the earth has revolved halfway around the sun. So now it's at the, let's call it, north position.
Which means midnight should now be fully illuminated, it's now completely facing the sun.
I don't get it what am I missing???
And don't say "it's the tilt". I have 2 oranges and I'm tilting one and going through the full rotations and halfway revolution and it's still coming up as midnight being illuminated on one side of the sun and dark on thr other side

If the earth didn't spin, the same side would always be facing the sun. That side would point "south" and then "north" 6 months later.
The spin then happens on top of that, so midnight is always facing away.

If you draw an arrow from the centre of A East at the start, after one revolution, it is still pointing at the centre of B and has therefore rotated by 120 degrees. Do that 3 times and and you get a full 360 on top of the 3, making it 4.
How you frame the question can make it 4, but it can also make it 3.

If you take the frame of reference of the sun and the earth, 1 revolution of the earth is when the same face of the earth points at the sun.
A frame of reference outside of the solar system would see that as 1 + 1/365 revolutions (in the same way as it would see it as 1+1/3, in the graphic)
OP is taking a frame of reference outside of the solar system and using 1 revolution, which would be 1-1/365 revolutions from the frame of reference of the earth and the sun, leading to the opposite side of the earth facing the sun at midnight.
As with many things in life, it all comes down to where you stand and OP is standing in the wrong place.

for anyone interested here is a model showing the differenceshttps://www.desmos.com/calculator/5ovoce0fwd
the black point hits the bigger circle 3 times, so if you were on a ferris wheel rolling around the earth youd say you rolled around 3 times. but the ferris wheel itself (or a person strapped to the center of the wheel) as indicated by the 3=D label shows the wheel itself would have turned four times

Something is off about physics
If you ask “why” infinitely to any question in the world you end up at the programmed roadblock of physics every time
Ever since I found that out it’s messed with me. That’s not normal LMAO
It’s like an installed filter/block to stop you from asking why
