How do people make friends so easily?

Like they will go somewhere new and within a week they have close friends. How is this possible?

Studies show it takes 40-60 hours spent to make a casual friendship
FA's don't have friends or mutual friends to spend 40-60 hours with
When you go out people are always with their friends so you can't meet anyone

People will want to be friends with you if you tell them you were in the Fast and the Furious movies.

Wish I lived in the pre-internet days when bars were still social venues, and people would go by themselves and chat up the people around them. Must have been nice.

Learning to talk to anyone comfortably, especially strangers, is a start.

Once you can do that, finding a stranger that is actually cool that you'd be willing to be friends with just involves more time/commonality.

So for real, I make friends really quickly and they last a long time (if I deem them to be good people, etc.). I grew up with a very gregarious family and just enjoy striking up conversations. I'm open and honest in a way that people say is disarming. For example, I made a friend through work this year when we bonded over a history of having had eating disorders; he also admired my work in a seminar so there was respect there, and now we're friends. I make a bunch through shared hobbies like comic book nerd stuff. I also text or IM a lot with them so it's like spending more time than in-person.

^^ This

OP just start talking to random strangers when you're in social places about things going on around you. The conversations will flop immediately or you may get bert stared/ignored but if you're not an autist and they aren't anti-social phucks (might happen a lot nowadays) it should be fine.

Just don't be fake to try to make them like you. If you disagree with things they say (barring politics/religion/chit like that, avoid these topics) voice your opinion in a non-confrontational way.

I pride myself on being able to go up to any person in a social situation and start a conversation

I don't have the self esteem to do that. I also know people won't respond well because i'm always alone. If i had friends i would feel normal doing it sometimes maybe, but everyone knows i'm a loner

some people are highly social and excel at providing value to peers in some fashion (humor, status, networking, business opportunities).

I know a few guys that are well known in this area. Basically everyone they meet ends up loving them by the time their convo is over. They smile alot, tell funny stories, and are doers.

No no no, people won't respond well because YOU are lacking the confidence in yourself. Who cares if you're alone lol. Pound a few drinks and put yourself out there, life is too short to always wonder, "what if?"

I never had trouble making friends but that's because I forced myself to socialize with people and nowadays it comes naturally.

make no mistake the 1 week friends are not real ones, they're just acquaintances, you really got to spend a lot of time and experiences with people to know them on a personal level and for them to become your close friends.

Honestly at this point of my life I'm just happy with the 3 friends that I have and I don't want more.

If you want to make friends, force yourself to talk to people, take their number and set up something to do (eating somewhere / travelling), you will maybe come as creepy but that's life.

I've tried going out alone it doesn't work my bro. Social venues are way too crazy these days and people are all with friends. Nobody goes alone (except like one FA guy at every concert i've been too)

They're approachable and naturally seem interested in other people, cant really be taught that well either, i mean you can improve but true extroverts are born. If youre not one yourself, at least make one friend who is and watch your group grow.

Just do what Silencespeaks says

Go talk to people and ask them about interesting chit and listen to what they say. Chime in every now and then with your opinions/experiences and go from there. Being a good listener is the next best thing if you aren't funny/charismatic when speaking yourself

You’re a red giving advice so I will advise you to give it elsewhere. This guy will make a ton of excuses and not listen to a word you or anyone says ITT. He’s just looking for people to say they are just like him
