Star Wars' Rose: I Left Twitter Because I Was Harassed Cuz Im Asian
Kelly Marie Tran is opening up about her decision to delete her Instagram earlier this year and the harassment she faced on social media.
In an op-ed for The New York Times, Tran acknowledges the difficulties she has faced on social media since appearing as Rose Tico in Star Wars: The Last Jedi.
"It wasn’t their words, it’s that I started to believe them," Tran wrote. "Their words seemed to confirm what growing up as a woman and a person of color already taught me: that I belonged in margins and spaces, valid only as a minor character in their lives and stories."
The piece, appearing under the headline "I Won't Be Marginalized by Online Harassment," takes an even broader look at what it means to grow up as a woman of color in the United States.
"I want to live in a world where children of color don’t spend their entire adolescence wishing to be white," Tran wrote. "I want to live in a world where women are not subjected to scrutiny for their appearance, or their actions, or their general existence. I want to live in a world where people of all races, religions, socioeconomic classes, sexual orientations, gender identities and abilities are seen as what they have always been: human beings."

I figured she would have gotten more hate for being fat, not an Asian woman.
My only problem with her character is that she was annoying and pointless. Finn too. His character is the Jar Jar of the new trilogy. Unfortunately you can't really criticize either character without being called racist/sexist/etc.

I'm sure there was people adding a race slant to it. But that's what you get when your entire movie is used as a springboard for propaganda.
Watch Last Jedi again, and try to spot the one person on the "First Order" that isn't a white male or Brienne of Tarth. There's only ONE. Then look through the "Resistance." It's almost entirely made up of women or people that aren't white. Pretty clearly defined message.
I'm in no way against "inclusion" but "inclusion" doesn't mean I have to pretend something is good just because you have women or minorities in roles. The world has gone mad.

she was one of my favorite parts of the movie tbh. the guy wearing the cloak on the island was probably the best but she was right up there as well.
