Apple just rekt healthcare industry profits..apple watch does EKG now & detects fall

it detects if you fall or trip or fall off your bike...sends SOS alerts.

also detects heart issues and does EKG graph..shows u risk of heart disease also.

this means lot of billings for healthcare industry going to take some hit.

this is quite interesting as tech is solving society's biggest problems that politicians cant.

so the watch is gonna cal an ambulance if it senses you fall or whatnot? Then they will charge you for the ambulance call whether you need it or not

What's more likely to happen is you will need a prescription for an iphone and the price will be jacked to 10k minimum.

it only sends SOS if u are immobile for over a minute..which means u either fainted or seriously injured.

until then u gives u option to manually make emergency call by swiping.

they added some new sensors and stuff to add new features

So if I'm biking and drop my phone it will summon an ambulance? What if it's in my backpack and I toss it down somewhere?

So tired of devices with retarded safety features.

EKG feature is a total gimmick. Never going to get close to the accuracy of a 12-lead and LOL if you don't think people will be showing up to the emergency department because their "Apple Watch told me I was having a heart attack" or "Apple Watch told me I was in A-fib" or "Apple Watch said that I was having PACs"

No watch is "showing your risk of heart disease" But who was high blood pressure, cholesterol, diabetes and prediabetes, smoking, being overweight or obese, family history, and unhealthy diet?

Healthcare industry is going to take a hit? Hahahahahaahaha. OK

Some people too young to remember when people wouldn't think of using portable digital music...

Would be really interested to figure out how the new phone/watch has managed to accurately pick up EKG when all other heart rate monitors are hit or miss, unless fed by chest strap.

“On the Series 4, users put their finger on the digital crown. The watch passes a current across the chest to track electrical signals in the heart, directly, and it’s far more accurate than interpreting based on pulse. The process is meant to take about 30 seconds and the user will receive a heart rhythm classification. Normal rhythms will be classified as “sinus” rhythm, and the Watch will also classify irregular rhythms, such as atrial fibrillation. The information will be stored in the Apple Health app.”

This article is saying it has clearance from the FDA to be used as a medical device. This actually seems pretty cool IMO. I could see it being widely used with how eagerly people monitor their own health and self-diagnose

Yeah they are but man i loved them. I have ~100gb of music in my library and having it all in one source was amazing. I know phones go way up in storage but i would still prefer to have two separate devices though.

Maybe, but I'm guessing that the opposite will occur. The new apple watch will more likely have people go to the hospital requesting costly tests that will not be all that helpful. I've seen it in my family at least. A family member became overly worried after wearing the apple watch that his heart rate was to high. He went to the doctor and it was nothing to be concerned about. I'd guess similar will happen with the new EKG feature.
