🦇🦠🧪✡️ COVID-19 Hangout Thread 🔬🛸💊🦎 Episode IV: A New Hope

The system of springs and pulleys that operates the Misc is apparently creaking under the strain, so here's a new chat thread. I don't think there's a lot a lot of value in sharing another hand-washing guide at this point, we're all up-to-speed, but public health agencies continue to widely encourage that people avoid non-essential travel and be conscientious about sanitizing, and that vulnerable people including the elderly and those with pre-existing health conditions like diabetes, hypertension, and obesity take special care to avoid infection. Infection from an asymptomatic person may be easier than previously thought, even through talking or breathing, and the use of fabric face coverings in public are becoming a widespread recommendation both to reduce your risk of exposure and greatly reduce your risk of unknowingly infecting others.

https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.cnn...udy/index.html

“The study estimated that 2.49% to 4.16% of people in Santa Clara Country had been infected with Covid-19 by April 1. This represents between 48,000 and 81,000 people, which is 50 to 85 times what county officials recorded by that date: 956 confirmed cases.”

73 deaths in Santa Clara county.

That’s a ACTUAL fatality rate of between .16 and .09%

If we actually had the total of people infected, compared to the death totals, we'd see how ineffective this virus is. And if we compared it to how many young and unsick people are dying, we'll have a lot of people rioting to get back to work, etc. I agreed with the measures to combat the spread, so we don't overwhelm the hospitals and make more nurses feel like they have to make crying or dancing videos, but it's time to reopen the economy. Scaredcels will all soon be exterminated.

Individual peer review of that study is pointing out some potentially major problems with their testing / methodology

Wow, 85 times the official number. Taken across the whole country that is about 2.5 million people infected.

You’re the one coping brah, using one study of 3,300 people in Santa Clara to support your view about a global pandemic. I hope this thing is 50-85x more widespread than we know, but this study ain’t definitive proof of that

So we've had 40k deaths in only a few weeks time. What would the deaths be like if we said **** it let's just go about business as usual. Do you really think think they wouldn't be a lot worse. Then you have increase load on hospitals which makes this thing even worse. This was never gonna be the plague like the media made everyone feared. This was more about preventing our hospitals from being overwhelmed.

The “hospital overwhelm” theory was based on models using **** data. Didn’t happen because it is in fact, another flu.
