Good chart on coronavirus
Found this chart helpful.
My personal position is: I don't wanna get it, just like I don't wanna get the flu, plus I know it's more infectious, so it makes sense to take some minor precautions.
If I had respiratory issues, I'd be extremely cautious of course.

You definitely want to avoid Covid-19.
I know most of you all are just talking crap about no masks and going on about your regular day BUT are rightfully cowering at home scared. You can't handle it, so continue what you are doing.

You are right to be cautious. If you have lock down in your state, it will help you avoid it. You do not want the 'rona that is for sure. Even if you are asymptomatic, the virus is real and it's nature is unknown for now.

I'm very cautious since my mother lives with me and the wife. If it was just me, I wouldn't care as much, though of course I would take precautions to not potentially spread it to vulnerable people (wearing a mask when I'm around others, etc).

~600k a year die worldwide from the basic flu. Why didn't we wear masks before? What's the thresh hold for wearing masks? 600,001 deaths?

The greater you are the harder you fall. You have just heard nothing about the nothings.
I am telling you that you do not want the 'rona. But do not live your life in fear. If you want to travel, accept the risk and wear a mask to limit the spread. It is an air-borne virus I am sure.

We have flights to Croatia and thereโs no way, wouldnโt even travel within UK and our R0 is below 1

I'd be less concerned about catching it but Mrs Beer has pretty chitty lungs. It would be potentially life threatening if she got it so I don't want it. Also it seems like a bad case of the rona is way worse than the flu and I've had flu that nearly sent me to the hospital when I was 10 year younger. So I'm not exactly thrilled with the idea of rolling the dice on it if I can avoid doing so.

Wouldnโt fly
Wouldnโt visit a public beach
Whatโs the point in being in a beach house if you canโt party or socialise with randoms?
Thatโs where the risk lies
And tbh US is a seeming chitshow for hotspots and if they are all allowed to travel out of state youโre just playing dominos
And this is just first wave, second wave of flu is historically far worse

Only go out for groceries and other necessary things. Wear mask and gloves everywhere if possible. (Discard gloves immediately when you get home.) Wash your hands with soap and wipe down anything you buy with a clorox wipe or if you can't find clorox wipes, use a diluted solution of clorox and water and a paper towel. Do not go to any gatherings, bars, restaurants, etc. Try to avoid being within 3 ft of other people, mask or not. Do not count on your mask to protect you.
Those are the best protips for avoiding the virus. If you show symptoms of being infected, go get tested, and if it gets serious, go to the hospital. Avoid spreading it to other people.

On a personal level, when is the last time you felt like complete chit with a bug or even a bad hangover and clung on to the fact it was gonna be over soon.
Remember that feeling?
Now try to imagine feeling like that with no idea of when or if it would stop
TBH thatโs the key difference, how much feeling like hell on Earth are you personally able to stand
If you were mine I would try to persuade you otherwise
But adults get to make their own decisions
Stay safe Luc

The virus is certainly being leveraged for political reasons, so itโs important to try normalize against that. I try to ignore the media and go to the raw data.
Beyond any political leveraging, the media generally loves fear. Makes for good news and clicks.
