Prometheus is underrated

Sure it isn't a patch on Alien or Aliens. But its 100x better than Alien 3 and Alien Resurrection.
Don't get why it gets so much hate? Yea the plot is a bit dumb in parts, but at least they tried to steer the franchise in a new direction. It could have been the start of a great soft reboot, had it not been for the pathetic Alien Covenant.
If you've only seen Prometheus once you should give it a second viewing, you'll appreciate it more. Especially that abortion scene, yikes.

Thats what I mean. It isn't without its ridiculous flaws but it had things going for it. Covenant ruined it though. We never know why the Engineers made us and why they wanted to destroy us. Instead it just turned into, 'android man bad'

I loved it too and was really anticipating the engineers in Covenant but they just went back to the basic Alien plot. The engineers could have been great content for a series of movies.

I enjoyed both prequels, but more so Prometheus. I heard that they're actually thinking about doing a third prequel titled Alien: Awakening.

I liked Prometheus but it had to grow on me and it got better everytime I watched it. Alien Covenant is god aweful and I wish it didn't exist.

I like it alright but it would have been great if Damon Lindleoff didn't change the script from the original. Also shout out to MadFury the miscer who plays the engineer alien in the movie

Has Covenant permanently ruined things, though? Aren't we expecting another prequel film?

I'm also not sure that Covenant did turn things into "android man bad".

Having said all this, I may re-watch both on a flight tomorrow. Hope this thread doesn't die too quickly.

Each to their own, but every 10-15 minutes something unbelievably dumb happened IMO.

Normally I can switch off my brain, but the stupid was piling up too fast. Someone actually walked out of the theater in disgust, at literally exactly the same time I thought; "this movie is chit".

I could have let the dumb stuff go if it was intentionally a B movie, but it seemed like it was trying to be some high brow sci fi film.

This brah gave the best outline of why the movie people thought the move was garbage...


The only good thing about the movie was laughing along with the youtube reviewers trashing it...

Prometheus had a lot of build up and potential, but I agree with an above poster here that the payoff never realized. Real shame because that setting has so much potential for incredible stories. But ya underrated for sure

If you go back and watch it without all the hype that was around it when it came out, it's definitely a good watch.

That goes for most things anymore really.

I liked it. And I really like the Aliens/Predators story lines. I feel like they let the series slip into B level movies at best. Unfortunate really.

I thought it was really under rated as well. I love those type of movies and shows though and have found that a lot of people just don’t seem to get into them as much.

I know it sounds pretentious but a ton of people are just not interested in anything with meaning deeper than what they can see on the service. Most enjoy some mindless action movie or anything that doesn’t make them think too much. I enjoy some of those types of movies as well but they don’t hold a candle to the stuff that will leave you thinking about it for days after.
