Becoming An Oldcel Doesn't Sound So Bad...

I saw this in the comments section underneath a clip from the GOAT show, True Detective Season 1.

" live alone like these 2.

I am 69, Viet Vet, decent VA pension, ex cop, 5 kids. Separated 20 odd years ago never seen her since, kids drifted away to their mother. They have great lives. All you wish for is that your kids are healthy and happy even if they don't contact you anymore. I live in a country town left the city, watch the game, dinner in the mornings for breakfast and see all the local old guys like me and the waitresses and get my bit of social chat and human contact.

2 dogs, build model boats and surf the net. Living alone doesn't mean being lonely. People get that mixed up. I know married people with people all around them yet they are lonely. I am not. When I lived in the city alone I felt totally anonymous and inconsequential. In a country town your not, and your noticed and people know you and wave or say hi and sort of all keep an eye on each other. Best thing that ever happened was the internet. I can see anything I want and get to read all you guys and your comments and smile, get pissed, type responses and communicate. That is healthy.

You have to learn to be alone, takes time to know how, but when your there its fine. Having a dog or 2 or a cat or a pet is also the secret. Gives you a responsibility and a reason for the day, and its something alive in the house with you that needs seeing to and looking after and in return it loves you. Women? There are many many great ladies out there and I know one or 2 lol, who, like me, just like a friend with benefits now and then, nothing more, and a thrown in home cooked roast dinner occasionally. when they need a little man help around the house now and then.

Life is good. :-)"

Another oldcel living a simple and content life...

Stay healthy guys.

Sounds terrible m8. Not only did he lose the girl but the fruit of his loins are happy & he's not there to share their joy plus his dogs will eat his face when he's dead & they get no food.

LOL. I didn't feel down reading it.

I've read over the past week (elsewhere on the internet) about incels wanting to rope themselves, because they don't want to get old and be alone. I thought this kind of things shows an alternative, a dude who has found contentment living alone. Just thought I'd spread that on the net.

(Quasi) worst case scenario, brahs can be OK.

I agree that loneliness is poison. However, living alone doesn't necessarily equal loneliness. That was the point.

Again... (Quasi) worst case scenario. The brah in the text talk about hanging out with friends, chatting on the net, and have FWB that he shares meals with.

What the phuck is your problem?! (Not srs.)

He may be happy but his kids were most likely all hurt by the fact he wasn't in their lives

Fair point.

Not sure of the details of that though, hard to judge what went on regarding why they 'drifted away to their mother'. The seperated when he was approx 50, so I'm presuming they were approx mid 20s.

True.

Point being that there isn't a cut off age when things can get better, or they can find female companionship.

I'll be real with you... Yeah that part suspect, probably would have been better to edit out the first paragraph, but I didn't want to fraud.

The rest of it I thought would be a somewhat uplifting message to put out.
