Cliffs: Mass adoption of masks doesn't work
Maskcels will surely be BTFO as soon as this comes out, but when it does expect the media to either ignore it or attack it
Summary and study design here:
https://clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show/study/NCT04337541

Journals are no longer run by scientists, they are run by priests who ensure that nothing which breaks the consensus is allowed through. Don't expect anything good to come out of peer review until the fundamental problems with our culture and society are fixed first.

Brave enough to do what? Murder grandparents??!!
Just put your mask on, stand in your designated circle, wait *2 more weeks, shut down your business, and donโt ask questions. Whatโs so hard about that?

Kroger, yesterday....around 12:30....packed (right after the main church services let out...see location). Went right after killing legs. Gym is in same complex as Kroger.
Mask wearers.....60ish%
Non Mask wearers .....40ish%
Mask wearers wearing it correctly, including employees.....maybe 30%. And not in the "I'm an idiot way" ....more in the "this is on my body because it has to be, but I dont GAF" way
Compared to a month/months ago when I remember seeing maybe 1-5 people not wearing a masks.
Just lol....people are waking up

I was under the impression that it was no secret that masks may not be particularly effective in preventing people from contracting C-19. I thought the point was that they were meant to decrease the extent to which carriers of C-19 spread it.

Also, if asymptomatic carriers are far less infectious than the symptomatic (they are), and the symptomatic should self-isolate, then why would we all be encouraged to wear them?
How could you design a study to test their effectiveness in preventing spread by the infected? You would have to send the known infected out and somehow determine how many they infected. This is obviously not going to happen. Should we just assume it is true that they help despite no evidence or even evidence to the contrary?

For the record, I don't wear a mask anywhere. I believe in hybrid Terrain-Germ theory. I don't believe it's healthy for us to walk around wearing masks, and breathing back in expelled particles and bacteria.

Re your second question: viral load peaks in the pre-symptomatic stage - ie whether you turn out to be symptomatic or asymptomatic, you will transmit before you have symptoms. Obvious solution: ask everyone to wear a mask to protect other people.
Re your third question: you don't have to test efficacy by deliberately exposing people to the virus if you know the means (droplets etc.) by which the virus is transmitted and then test the effect of face masks on the means of transmission. There's also some evidence that in face masks have reduced the incidence of infection in certain settings, such ashospitals(and yes, I'm aware that correlation does not equal causation).
But if you really care about this, you shouldn't really be asking some random on the misc who doesn't know a great deal about it; you should be doing your own research (and that doesn't mean 'looking for information which confirms your biases').
