I got these neighbors moved in about a year ago and keeps getting worse. In and out of their vehicles coming and going all hours day and night, screaming, dogs barking, car alarms going off, boat engine revving, kids screaming, drill press or something in their garage etc. The main problem is the loud THUD, BOOM, SLAM, BANG, noise of their car doors. They always have 3-5 cars and trucks over there and like I said coming and going all day and my room I set up my computers and office in is right next to where they park in their front yard. How can I sound proof that side of the house? I think mainly its coming through the windows and THUD slams the BOOM sound from their doors so hard into my chest that I can feel it because of the echo in here or something. It scares the hell out of me. I'll me typing or reading something working on the computer and all of a sudden out of the silence comes BOOM BAND SALAM CHRASH and causes my heart to jump and scares the hell out of me. Sometimes I get really pissed and feel like yelling at them because it feels like to be that loud all the time you have got to know you're loud and doing it on purpose.

They also do this thing where they park doubled up so when one that parks right on my property line has to leave and is blocked in they all gotta move and to get into their cars they walk into my front yard and gets on my nerves. And they use my fence around my back yard as their own drying rack for these towels and hang them up over my fence I think they're towels to clean their dog? cause they stink

You can get double glazing for windows that fit over your exisitng ones, might be a place to start.

Box fan or white noise machine might help slightly. But with sharp loud bangs and crashes, nothing will help and you’ll always hear it to some degree. I’m a very light sleeper and have dealt with this chit for 30 years from dorms to apartments to hotel stays

Yeah I tried headphones and also a fan but the BOOM from the doors of the vehicles I feel thump in my chest.

im pretty sure any type of window will not help. brand new windows on a brand new house help with heating and cooling but not outside noise. its the close proximity and the volume/consistency of the noise.

basically theres nothing you can do op....except actual sound proofing like them do in music studios maybe.

Would likely cause me to go over there and confront them but that would be bad and solve nothing. Maybe I can do things to make them want to move away? I think they are renters.

Could do acoustic tiles but they're very expensive.

I would talk to them as a first step, they likely have no idea how much they're bothering you.

Trying to track down missing thread now. This guy cracks me up. He needs help.

edit: no I dont sniff them but I opened my bedroom window last week because it was like 70 degrees outside for first time in a year and I smelled something coming from outside and when I went outside I noticed it was the wind blowing the smell here and it smelled like mildew mixed with a dirty dog.


The type of people that do things like this are not the type of people to be rational and understanding. Anything you say to them will result in bad things happening. I have dealt with these types of people a long time ago. So I go over and say something about how they probably dont realize it but they make a lot of noise and I have work to do during the day is there a way you can please stop slamming your car doors and making so much noise

1.) say to my face oh sorry we didn't realize it yeah we'll try to be quiet. Then they intentionally make even MORE noise because they know it bothers me and they feed off it and do it for entertainment.

2.) they say yeah we'll be more quiet and then they dont be quiet

3.) they get mad and argue.

4.) they are calm and rational people and actually try to quiet down.


I already have enough doubts about situation 4 from happening just on their behavior. They came and banged on my door a bunch of times and asked to borrow my lawn mower and I didnt even know who they were. When I said no they argued with me asking "why not? we live next door and wont steal it". I was like I still dont know you so no you cant borrow it. Its not worth the risk of bad things happening to go and knock on a stranger's door and ask them to quiet down. This is florida and there is no sense of community here. No one here is from here. They are all rootless city skipping people with no ties to this area or the land.

a good easy start would be to plant a chit tons of shrubbery on the fence line. thicker windows, not much you can do to the walls without speeding a chit ton of money

Then it's easy, walk over with your mower full of gas and say, "hey you're welcome to use my mower, but we need to talk about the car doors slamming....."

I suspect they are of a different color or ethnicity than you and you're scared to confront them. If they're Hispanic or Black I suspect they would be horrified (at least the Mom would be) to know they are bothering you. If they're plain white trash, you're probably just fukked.

There's like 3 white guys, a spanish guy, and a white woman, and a black girl thats like 10 or so years old that live there. Idk who all the other people are that come and go and I dont want to know. It doesnt bother me whatever race they are I wouldn't confront them no matter what based on their behavior.

If you're gonna go on the defensive, can you move your office?

Moldex Nascar earplugs. I wear them to sleep and during the day, can't hear ****.
Also, consider your medications, stimulant intake, anxiety induced by caffeine can make your ears hypersensitive (i have this), its like everything is super loud because you're body is in fight or flight mode. I'd invest in some paint, start putting no parking areas around, make memos on your company letterhead demanding that they reduce noise or will be fined for violating noise ordinance laws..... if that fails, start killing people who piss you off.
