Lynch is great at creating that surreal atmosphere and so is Takeshi Miike and Gaspar Noe. That said you know that what you're seeing is weird while you're watching it.

I think the turkish film "Baskin" is the most successful surreal film I've seen because the weirdness doesn't hit hard at first it just builds stronger and stronger throughout the film and the conclusion is a bit more final.

Seems that lynch/cronenburg hold the title for most fukt up films lol. I’ve watched a fair few of them but some of them just don’t make sense, there’s no story, beginning middle or end to them.

Baskin was wild and kinda terrifying. Didn’t know Turks could make such a film.
