Most thought provoking movies

I just watched interstella 3 hours straight and im speechless
A complete masterpiece from Christopher Nolan
First time I watched it on a plane and didn't understand chit
But once you really take time to watch this movie.. its the best thing I've seen in years
I won't spoil the movie but it really makes the question life as human beings and sacrifice, etc.
In other words its very deep, and most people who don't like the movie are either too dumb or not patient enough to watch it and really pay attention to whats going on.
Went to rotten tomatoes afterwards and couldn't believe it didn't get better ratings ded srs.

My favourite thought provoking films:

JFK - Red pilled me on the military industrial complex. Oliver Stone openly said that it was a 'counter myth', meant to provoke questioning.

Cloud Atlas - Author said it has 2 main themes. Interconnectvity of people, lives, our decisions and actions. Also predacity, how we prey on one another.

Mr Nobody - Choice, and it's consequences.

The Watchmen - Each character seems to represent a philosophy. (I think the movie is great, but the graphic novel is incredible.)

Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind - Do relationships have to be long term and free from pain, to have meaning?


(Writing this, I need to rewatch the films. I feel I've lost a lot of motivation to built a spiritual life..)

I watched it when I was younger, but didn't 'get it' until I had gone through a divorce.

That ending "OK". Phuckin got me in the feels one day.

Happens to a lot of people, after a break up they can get scared of being vulnerable without someone else again. Movie legit helped me to realize that things don't have to last to be appreciated or worthwhile.

watching it soon after a breakup of a 4 year relationship with my first love (tortured myself with so many love dramas/romantic comedies lulz) that left my heart completely shattered, was one of the most powerful experiences ever. i never cry but my eyes were literally leaking throughout. their chemistry was very realistic and relatable.

blue valentine with ryan gosling and michelle williams is another good one, but much more brutal. would recommend if you haven't watched.

Im planning to re-watch endless sunshine one day when im going through bad times in my relationship. Ive only watched it single and the message that I got from it is that even if relationships don't work out or have bad moments, it can still be worth the good times together. I think watching this right after a break up would make me regret so much but feel a form of clarity too

dont get me wrong not trying to sound callous or downplay "love" but to think that that single emotion among all others carries some kind of cosmic energy is ridiculous, dont care what some long-named philosopher has to say about it

He did not describe love as an emotion. It seems like you've assumed you know what the philosopher meant without being familiar with his conception of love, IME that is always a mistake.
