IMO The Walking Dead is a rollercoaster of quality. However, I am glad I stuck with it because when it's good it's great, and it's given me more "WTF?!" moments than any other show.
I respect that it sticks with the Survivalist Horror theme and is willing to kill off lead characters, otherwise there are no stakes to whatever the characters encounter like many other shows where the characters are practically invincible. You really will have no idea who is going to make it to the end of the show, just like Game Of Thrones.
(One character died in the show, and legit is the only character that has ever died in a TV show that still to this day gives me minor feels. I've never had that before.)

First 2 seasons were good. After that they could’ve ended it 3 And everyone would consider it a gray show. It’s a mirror image of itself these days.

Up to a point. It gets ridiculous as it goes along, kind of like with Game of Thrones. The types of shows that should have ended a long time ago but people keep watching and the money keeps coming in so they continue being produced.

Do you like zombies? Then watch.
I recently rewatched the show and it affirmed my belief it just holds up 1000x better in a binge. Slow episodes suck when you gotta wait a week or entire season to see the pay-off. But when you can binge an entire half season arc in a weekend it's much more compelling.
Season 6 was particularly solid for zombie action. Giant herds in the first half. Remember people sh!tting all over it that season.
The biggest problem with the show is the location scouts. To save budget they film everything in the same area of Georgia and it FEELS like they've never progressed. They should've moved the shooting location where the characters actually traveled, because to me it looks like they're still 10 minutes from the Farm and a half hour from the CDC. It all looks the same. Same damn stretch of road used over and over again. This aspect of production really dumbed down the feel of "progression" IMO, and is actually the show's biggest problem. It's much more a subconscious thing until you think about it, then you realize "They never left the same 15 square miles, what the fuk?"

Like others have said, it should have ended after season 3. It would be in an elite class, but now it’s ****.

I didn’t even make it that far, from what I understand it didn’t really get any better anyway. There’s definitely better shows to waste time on.

I started out watching the season whilst doing things on my laptop like I did for the previous season, by Episode 3 I put my laptop away.
Had the most mind blowing 'event' for me in TV history in that season. I'll never forget how I lost my chit at the screen.(What people often do is pull up youtube after people say things like that, however the 'event' will not have an emotional impact unless you've been following the characters since the first season. You'll understand what I mean when you see one of the characters break emotionally, due to everything they've been through and then the 'event' happens.
What happens isn't that mind blowing, it's more how and who it happens to. Again, it won't have any meaningful impact unless you've stuck with the show season after season.)
Season 10 was a big disappointment to me.

Even I can agree The Shield is some next-level sh!t, although a much more apt comparison would be Sons of Anarchy or Breaking Bad. Walking Dead is it's own thing, being a horror show. They're so wildly different it's odd comparing them.
The Shield and TWD both have dramas and deaths, that's about the end of comparisons. Another thing I can say they have in common, is how they both changed the scope of television in their own way and were massive innovations on what the TV format could be. The Shield is "basic cable Sopranos," IMO. And The Walking Dead is "the Sopranos of horror." They both opened doors in their respective genres similarly to what Sopranos did.

I found it moronic how they camp in the woods, and then here come zombies!!
I would not camp in a tent if zombies were around. I don't want to do that if there's dangerous animals let alone supernatural level creatures.
In addition, it's part of a long line of shows with no story. There is no real story to shows like this, X-Files, Lost, etc they are designed to string you along with "mysteries" that have to real mystery.
It's to get ratings and sell commercials.
