One of the worlds toughest men tells his story

His story:

Sexually abused at the age of 11.

Was suffering from depression and anxiety.

Decided to change his life by confronting all his fears.

After getting through his lower fears (e.g. of spiders) his biggest fear was of violence.

Became a Bouncer in - at the time - one of the most violent cities in Europe.

Became good at violence and began to teach what he had learned in 'practical' Karate classes.

Became a bad person who beat people up because he pissed off, and not because 'he had to'. He almost killed someone.

After almost killing someone, he left the doors and wrote a book about his life which became a best seller, and began teaching self-protection around the world.

Later became heavily interested in personal development. Now primarily writes and talks about personal development.





In case people don't know who Geoff Thompson is, he was one of the pioneers in the martial arts world who helped bring practical self defence to the masses.

(Note: This kind of teaching was in the 90s, before the explosion in popularity of MMA.)




Edit: His bookFragileis a short read, but is an extremely insightful and powerful read about the effects of child sexual abuse.
