Canned Fish is the best bang for your buck in nutrition and always will be

Not talking poverty Tuna either.

Canned Sardines and Herring. High in Omega 3s and good protein. Good on avocado toast, salads, or straight out of the can. Canned Salmon as well. Good for making Salmon burgers. Relatively cheap - all you need is 3-6oz/day and you can get that for under $3(Not Salmon). Can't forget mackerel either.

Just discovered canned herring. Hell of a lot more mild than tuna/sardines, a lot meatier. Tastes way better right out of the can srs.

Found a solid deal for 6oz herring 12 packs for $30. Each can has >1000mg Omegas + 38g protein. Gonna buy like 60.

Just another daily reminder to get your Omega 3s boyos.

Sardines in tomato sauce or mustard are hnnnnnggg.
The closer we approach the uncertainty of life's ending the more we wish to trade all of the things we have acquired in exchange for all of the things we have lost: wealth for youth, knowledge for fresh curiosity, resignation for hope. We'd trade our wisdom for new experiences, but it is wisdom that will teach us that at the end of the road the only new experience is death.

Yea been eating sardines again recently, myself. Olive Oil ones were pretty tasty. Was putting mustard on them so went and got a few that were already in mustard and they're not as good tasting as adding the mustard afterwards. Tempted to try tomato sauce and the Spanish versions next.

How do mackerels and herring compare?

Not sure on mackerel. Only have had mackerel in a sushi restaurant and its fkn delicious. Saw canned today though and might try.

Herring and Sardines are part of the same family and I believe Herring are just grown up Sardines.

Just ate 2 cans today, and herring have a firmer texture and a much less fishier smell/taste. The can was smoked though so I'm sure that helped out some.

I spent the first 10 or so years of my life thinking I didn't like salmon because I only ever had it canned. It wasn't until I tried a fresh hickory smoked salmon that I realized salmon is godly. Canned salmon is disgusting. It looks gross, its always try as phuck and it just tastes "different." its just not for me.

Yeah canned salmon is the least appealing of the canned fish. Whole, visible bones and it just looks kinda gross. However, they're good to make a salmon burger with.

Much less than any bigger fish IIRC, though. It's fish that eat other fish that have the highest mercury and arsenic, sardines are both a super food and the "cleanest" fish.
