Similar to how rape is not usually primarily motivated by sexual attraction or being horny.

It's often more similar to rape - power, domination, or a history of being abused.

I'm not making excuses, defending, justifying, or accepting the behaviour by p3dophiles or other abusers.

But you are. You’re ignoring the sexual gratification they get, or at the very least seeing that the people who get sexual pleasure from the acts are the minority of people sexually abuse children. And you are blaming it on a mental illness, which is of teen done to minimize blame at best, or paint the perpetrator as a victim of mental illness at worst. If someone is anorexic you accept that they are struggling with issues and just need help. If someone is depressed and commits suicide you blame it on the mental illness. Whether you realize it or not, that’s what you’re doing with people who sexually abuse kids. Also, how do you know that most people who do it don’t get gratification? That seems to be an absurd claim.
