MOGGER dinner. An oleo cookie sounds bad, was it actually good?

Which course (not counting lamb or duck) would you order again?

The OLEO cookie was funny: the black part was black olive & pomelo, and the white part was duck liver mousse. Really creative imo.

I'd order that octopus again: there was lots of black garlic, rice, ssamjang - very korean-flavored but fun too.

Who says I took the photos? My wife did - she shares them with her parents in Germany from time to time, especially when they are planning a visit. They are coming next month and I'm going to make sure the in-laws really enjoy the dining experience here.

How do you feel with this answer?

Think of them as Nerds, it was fun, they 'dissolved' in the root beer. The root beer foam was this super concentrated foam, so one bite to the depth brought it all together.

Right? I mean the PB&J - the PB overwhelms the caviar so I get that, but I think some folks just rate based on their subjective value for money etc. The float was so whimsical I went to talk to the two chefs heh - 2 Korean chefs with classic French/pastry backgrounds. That eclair above with the shrimp is a raspberry eclair with a cashew butter topping - a play on 'shrimp chips' on the left side of the plate too.

Was a lot of fun srs.

I go all over, normally based around FiDi. But I have checked out Philomena's Pizza on Queens Blvd and it stomps all over Di Fara and Lucali srs. There's this persian place I like in Park Slope, I like Oxomoco (posted this last week) in Greenpoint. Went to Babbo last week but it has fallen off. Went to Cote too and it was outstanding - the bar too.

We're spoiled for choice man. Wifey has been saying we should cook a bit more and she's right - kind of an eye watering spend on eating out the past few weeks this month LOL.

The octopus and the root beer especially caught my eye.

Good to see you again breh. I think you would have liked the duck too, it was so smoky/sweet/bbq, and permeated into the meat too.

I had gone berserk at the gym earlier, and was surprisingly full by the end. Quite protein heavy though the pics might not show it. It's one of the criticisms I have of some fine(r) dining places - they skimp on protein of all things, heh.

The pictures are a bit weird - they are much brighter than they were in the restaurant so the doneness is looking under, but rest assured I don't like raw/rare lamb.

Yeah it is, from classical French trained giga-chefs who opened their own Korean place (both are Korean) during the pandemic. Place is really taking off. On price? We were at around 350 each including drinks/tip, but you can get the standard 4 course for 90ish.

Since a number of us mentioned Cote (NYC), this is what the spread looks like:

They grill the meats for you, and then you wrap them with sauce, various kimchis, and do a one bite thing. It's outstanding, srs, and dumps all over those rando "korean bbq" places srs.
