Nah. I have a therapist on stand-by if I really need it, but I haven't been in months.

Talking about chit never really helps me anyway.

They know about my injuries ofc, but they don't know how depressed I am about them, nor do they know that I'm pretty much an incel (they know I don't date, but I doubt they think I've ever even tried a dating app).

My mom yeah sometimes. More so advice related issues, not like problems that can't be solved or are just complaints.

Example, I'd probably ask my mom her opinion if I were to sell my house or apply for a new job

I wouldnt talk to her about fighting with my gf or personal problems or like the finer details.

My dad was really good for financial advice and general decision making, but he's longer with us, so I turn to my sister alot for that because she's pretty rich and successful, her and her husband know a ton about finance and real estate.

Nope. My problems are my problems and I deal with them alone.

If I feel like a can't, I go to a psychologist. But I never had the necessity to.

In fact, I have no emotional problems, never had. Usually the problems I have, have an obvious (but sometimes difficult) solution.

No because I don't want to hear any "I told you so" arguments with them plus, there's nothing they can do but stress them out.

No.

Thats really just complicates things. Makes it harder on you because now you have your own issues and have to make them feel better about your issues.

At one point I did, but not anymore. My folks tend to ask how I'm doing regularly but I try not to bother them with what's going on internally.

This.

Letting family into your personal life and matters essentially gives three outcomes:

-Venting source as a relief
-Other ways to think about it or other solutions
-Regret because now they know some weaknesses about you, or are themselves concerned/worried for you

The third outcome's negativity outweighs the first and second outcome's positivity.

Cutting personal matters cold turkey is probably not the optimal solution, but not a terrible one either. Best to just be selective.

They divorced, so it is extra toxic to get involved in their new directions of lives. Getting off with their new partners = chitting on their children / previous marriage.

No.

Y’all seen Succession? There’s a scene in it that hit me right in the feels.

When Kendall is staying at his mother’s house and they’re both in the kitchen together one evening. Kendall starts out by saying something like “Mom, I have some things I’d like to talk about…”, and from the way he says it you can tell it’s some HEAVY chit. He continues “it’s something I’ve done… that I don’t feel great about”, and you can tell it is really eating him up inside. His Mom just replies “Oh… right” and is obviously completely uninterested. She begrudgingly agrees to listen but Kendall is like “don’t worry, it’s fine”, cos he can tell she just doesn’t really care. There’s no compassion or concern or anything coming from her at all.

It’s heartbreaking cos it’s his Mom, the one person in the world you think you could go to for solace. But that’s not what he receives.

It captures beautifully why telling your parents chit can really suck ass.

EDIT: Just realised I didn’t need to describe the whole fukin’ scene as it’s on YouTube:
