Just bought Microsoft Excel
Any of you brahs use this for work or at all?
What are some nifty things I can do in this bish.
Currently looking at some functions for it.
This software pretty much uses a modified programming language called VBA, but it's all written in singular spreadsheet "cells" (kinda trippy lol).<- correction in post #25

One of the most powerful organizational tools out there.
I used to write in a notebook alot but converted to writing in excel since it's neater. My notebooks are mostly used for writing it down in the moment and then transferred and also used for drawing lol.
I have a cheap laptop used solely for google sheets, which is free.

Question, why not use a program like One Note or MS Word to write in, unless there's something more you're doing than simply jotting ideas down.

For example when I need to fix my car and document it to see what is what, I'm not going to write out paragraphs, but rather little bits of information with numbers etc etc.

Unless you specifically needed it for work, its not necessary.
and if you wanted some software to make spreadsheets you can just use GoogleSheets which is free if you have a Gmail account and does everything Excel can do.

Imma be that guy. VBA isn't written in the cells, that's only standard Excel functions. To use VBA enable developer tab in settings and then you can add code to the spreadsheet. The code is basically VB6 syntax and has access to an object module that represents the workbook so you can automate or otherwise extend the standard excel functionality. VBA has access to your entire computer basically so is a huge security risk to allow it to execute on your system unless you very much trust the person who wrote it. To counter this excel split the spreadsheet file format into .xlsx and .xlsm with .xlsx not having VBA macros enabled. Be very careful with any .xlsm and or .xls files you didn't create.
I'm not the expert this post makes me out to be but I love excel and vba but it's totally loose what it is enabled to do. Also make sure you tell any programming/database guys you know that an excel spreadsheet is 100% a database and can be used as one and in a lot of cases should be used as one and going to the trouble of using any other form of database is just wanking. They love to hear that.

Finance bro.... I practically live in excel.
I know all the functions, all the tips and tricks, all the shortcuts.
When I was a young officecuck, I was responsible for managing the financial side of inventory which required me to analyze around 800K lines of transactions each month. You can't analyze 800K of lines without knowing the all the formulas in excel.
