What killed forums?

Some will say Reddit, but there is so much censorship on that site I’m sure people would come back to individual forums.

Is it social media? Everyone just mindlessly scrolling and never posting anything.

People not interested in being part of a community?

forums are basically late 90s technology, that **** is 25 years old by now. forums were used on dial up.

there are a lot of people who dont even have a PC but only use their phone or ipad. zoomers had smart phones at 10 years old, a lot of zoomers are surprisingly bad at even using PCs and associate them with school work.

forums arent made for smart phones, all the social media apps are what people use on their phones.

I remember in the IFBB forum here, Phil Heath would post, and people would troll the **** outta him. Eventually all the pros went to Insta or Youtube and if you read the comments there, people respect and treat the pros so much better. The pros eventually stopped posting here and it was the end of the IFBB forum.

reddit killed them, they used to be really lax around there with censorship and had tons of users

we couldnt even say ass hole or shiit or fuk here, also the mods were ridiculous and would ban you for no reason at all

plus everyone on vbulletin forums was rude and autistic

so everyone moved to reddit where you could get answers without a page of "use the search function idiot" when they knew damn well it hadnt worked since 2006

then, by the time reddit went to shiit and everyone wanted to come back to forums it was too late, they were dead

the only ones left were the hugeass ones like the misc and 4chan

Forums used to be filled with normies, autists, and weirdos. The corpos realized they could make ridiculous money off of the normies with apps, and the normies got pulled away. Now, the only people left on forums are autists and weirdos.

Why would a normie engage in a discussion with the chance to get negged or berated, when they can post on their favorite app and curate their experience to be filled with nothing but yes men?

Also, you can tell people IRL you have tiktok or insta. How many people IRL would you aware of misc? Chances are, you'd be more likely to mention reddit than this place. I know hating reddit is misc canon, but at this point in internet history, we're the weirdos compared to them.

Google deranking forums on their search engine in favor of big corporate websites and social media is a hugely overlooked factor as well.
