What PS exclusive on Steam would you recommend to a PC gamer to get them into PS

Should I try horizon zero dawn ? Spider man ? Helldivers 2 ? Last of us part 1 ?

If you had to convince a primarily PC/steam deck gamer on Sony titles, which game would be the first for them to try ?

Drawing a blank there, GT7 is the only Sony game I could recommend this gen.

TLOU 1 is maybe the best exclusive they've ever released. Of the more recent games I'd suggest Returnal which I think is their best game since 2020.

TLOU will probably get remaked for every new PS console forever

The most Sony game there is, cinematic third person action with a well received storyline that has mass appeal.

Horizon Zero Dawn. The graphics are PS4 tier but it's a fantastic story and world to get immersed in. Forbidden West is coming out very soon on PC with far better graphics and gameplay but you can't play it without playing Zero Dawn first due to major story reasons.

Yeah I think Ghost of Sushi is probably the closest they got to another Sony game I could like, but in the end it felt like your typical Ubisoft open world game to me.

Days Gone and Horizon did nothing for me as well, even TLOU1 and Uncharted 4 never really did it for me. I think Uncharted 1-3 was probably the only time I really enjoyed their cinematic 3'rd person action games.

Spiderman is okay but also feels like an open world Ubisoft title. You know the type, good looking graphics and big open world but it all feels so boring after a while with lots of QTE combat.

But that's the thing they are big and boring. Sure they look nice but that isn't what gaming is all about. That's why i am leaving those games and focusing on faster paced stuff with high framerates from now on. TLOU and Uncharted were really boring. I mean i would rather play a game like Just Cause over that stuff. At least it is kind of fun.

Probably nothing tbh, like you said many times. Sony games are cinematic games with no gameplay.

Yeah I think the vast majority of Sony games easily fall into two categories:

1 - The 3'rd person cinematic action titles, basically the "oscar bait" of the gaming industry. Video games that take themselves very seriously where it's all about the graphics, story, and presentation, meant to win awards and high praise from video games journalists.

2 - The 3'rd person open world action games. These always look and feel very similar to Ubisoft's signature open world games, basically the closest thing to them. Big open worlds, beautiful to look at, but eventually just kinda soulless, repetitive, and boring. Games where they really want you to put a ton of time into them, with lots of side quests and collectable goals, with combat that seems to revolve around stealth action and QTE sequences.

Heck sometimes these two can run together, as they often do now (I think the recent GOW games can feel like that.) I think that's also why Sony games can feel like they're always the same sort of experience after a while, because they sort of are. Like there is definitely a specific formula that they really stick to.

God of War 1-3
Killzone series
Bloodborne
Gran Turismo 7
Shadow of the Colossus

The Last of Us is decent, it plays on rails so you can pretty much switch your brain off and just play through the story.
You might like Horizon Zero Dawn if you're a massive Assassin's Creed fan... but you might as well just play Assassins Creed Origins or Odyssey if you haven't already.
I've not played the other games you mentioned so can't say/

Played that before I sold my PS5, along with God of war (another snooze fest) and the uncharted games on the ps plus collection. All boring ass generic titles.

It was an average boring ass open world map icon game, but I did enjoy the ghosts of tshumina multiplayer as I'm a looter shooter fan. Pity there wasn't many levels though.

It's been so long since I tried it, I think I played the PS4 disc but it had a 60fps patch for PS5 ?

Edit: and by God of war being a snooze fest I mean those stupid puzzles every 5 minutes I had to solve my throwing my axe or whatever at certain points. I enjoyed the epic opening of the game but every time I got to a stupid puzzle it slowly turned me off the game until I never played it again. Maybe PC mods could let me skip puzzles.

I've already had the fact that the main character is

a clone

END SPOILERS

and I found that out from hearing Doc Dark say it in one of his videos.

Does knowing this make the game not worth playing story wise ?

I'd love to try returnal, to be honest I've got it in my steam wish list. hearing about the poor steam deck performance turns me off it as I get more game time portable these days...

But I suppose I could find the time to play on my 144hz 1440p PC if I need to. I'm rocking a 3080, is that enough to max out returnal ?

I played Returnal, it's alright, overrated IMO. Just a decent roguelike 3'rd person action title.

Returnal was going to be the game (along with Horizon Forbidden West) that made me buy a PS5. Sadly, it didn't live up to my expectations (at all).

The only PS5 exclusive I have played on PC is Horizon Zero Dawn - I really liked it. Will get Forbidden West on Steam as soon as it releases.

Yeah it's a great game, forget what Xcels say. One of the best parts of Forbidden West is the amazing world, I'm jealous of how immersive it would look on a 4090. If there's no PS5 Pro patch for it this year I'm buying a 4090 just for this game.

Well that's because most of these Sony games honestly aren't that great unless you are really into cinematic action and Ubisoft style open world games. I mean I used to love the kinda games Sony was coming out with back in the PS1 - PS3 eras, but that all changed dramatically with the PS4. Heck I could argue that there was some stuff that I liked in the early days of the PS4, back when they were willing to carry on some stuff from the PS3 scene, but even then it just didn't seem to hold up. Like Driveclub was cool, but I preferred the Motorstorm titles. Killzone Shadow Fall wasn't bad, but I was never a big fan of the franchise, and the earlier games seemed better. GT Sport was nice, but GT6 was still the complete original GT experience by comparison. Then I guess they really focused on all the hype surrounding games like TLOU and cinematic gaming became the big focus, by high praise from the journalists and fanboys. That's basically when they lost me, I mean I still bought and played a lot of their hyped up exclusive titles, but they just never really did anything for me. By now it's like I don't really have much to reference in the way of Sony games that stood out to me for a long time, because it's been about a decade since they were making games that really appealed to me, with GT7 being the exception.

I think of them the same way I think of the Marvel movie scene these days. Lots of people seem to love them, like you will find a lot of enthusiastic fans on the internet who claim they're amazing and among the best entertainment around, and they get high praise from critics, but that's really just a fanboy and brand/corporate promotion scene when you get down to it. Like the more you are into movies, the less likely you are to consider Marvel flicks among the best movies to watch. They just have a lot of visual flair and mass appeal. That and they really stick to a specific formula that is easily digestible but can get old, repetitive, and predictable after a while.

Well that is the problem with most games nowadays, they feel generic and soulless. Idk what happened to the other kind of games we had on Ps1/ps2 and xbox. Even games on PC and xbox feel like this but it's not as bad as Sony. Sony has been putting out the exact same chit for around 15 years now.

Bruh, it pretty much all changed in 2012. That was basically the last hurrah of the old PS3/360 era, with 2013 ushering in the PS4/One era. I became far more of an Xbox fan as they were making the Forza games which really appealed to me, but outside of that it feels like a lot of the first party games became kinda boring and overhyped. They definitely have a soulless and generic feeling as well due to what I would call the corporate executive effect. Like in the past they gave the studios a lot more freedom to pursue their own ideas, and these studios were smaller with the people being far more passionate about what they were doing, there was a lot more artistry to game production. Then you got a bunch of corporate suits running the show, taking control and basically dictating everything based on how many boxes they can check and which safe/approved trends and directions they can focus on. Developers became bloated with forced hires just doing a job, passion left the buildings, and things sort of resembled more of an assembly line.

You're right

I know the 2012 thing is kind of an EOD meme but it's true.

2012 is when Internet and everyone having smart phones went mainstream, and humanity devolved into a hive mind of sorts, where majority of people just bandwagon for the mainstream opinion on literally every topic, and people have lost their sense of identity and individualism.

Hell, I got my first smart phone in 2012 and ever since I've been addicted to technology and 90% of my day is looking at some kind of screen, whether it be phone, tv, handhelds

I can't argue this. Skyrim was the last blockbuster game imo. I remember going to that release and everyone was talking about it. It was the last one i went to.

You can't really count GTA 5 either because Rockstar only makes a couple games and they are always good. Everything else though is lacking something. I mean hell there's a couple WWE 2k games on the front page now and i don't even know how to reply to them. It's the same game but with slightly better graphics each year.

I think these people could make better games they just don't know how. I mean they still take risks and put out **** like Saints Row they should be able to make other stuff.
