Burger King offers free Whopper deal in response to Wendy’s 'surge pricing' backlash
At least one competitor is looking to capitalize on the backlash fast food chain Wendy's received after it announced it was planning to test out a "dynamic pricing model."
Burger King said in a news release Wednesday it is offering customers a free Whopper or Impossible Whopper with a purchase of $3 or more now through Friday, March 1 when customers order via the BK app.
"Surge pricing? Well, that's new. Good thing the only thing surging at BK is our flame!" Burger King's statement reads.
The promotion comes on the heels of Wendy's CEO Kirk Tanner saying on an earnings call earlier this month the company had plans to roll out a "dynamic pricing model" as early as 2025. A dynamic pricing model means prices would fluctuate based on time, location and demand.

This is a wise play.
Burger King actually tastes pretty decent, but they just don't have the market share to justify their prices. If they could steal some of Wendy's market share then maybe they could turn around their dying brand.
A whopper topped off with some sriracha sauce is damn good.

I’ve been fiending for my whopper I have every 20 months or so, but recently saw a whopper with cheese was $9 (lmao).

I'm telling ya…when BK gets everything absolutely right …fresh buns, meat, tomato, etc…..it is GOAT. I did a taste test with Smash, BK and 5 Homos and BK won (if price was considered esp).
that said BK often fuks up. so theres that.
fun fact: AMZ did exactly surge pricing based on zip codes back in the day and obvs people communicated and called them out. Great idea though….RR mechanics charge 3x the rate of Ford and the car is essentially the same.
