what changed the 'vibe' in the world? (srs)

is it covid? things definitely seemed different before then but it could be rose tinted glasses

did something else change the vibe? when you see vids from the 90s everything look much more relaxed and enjoyable. strong nostalgia (even though i was a young kid in the 90s) maybe but yeah did something happen in the world markets that killed something?

9/11?

credit crunch/banker crisis or whatever that is?

was it all building up from earlier and it's just all coming into it's peak darkness now, cause yeah it seems dark

Social media/smartphones taking off around 2012.

Another shift around 2014-2015 where all this weird trans, race, and other political stuff picked up.

I was young during 9/11. Old enough to remember what happened, where I was, the aftermath/how people around me felt, but too young to have experience about how much things changed. For me, things started to get tense around the GFC. That's when you started to get the Occupy Wall Street and a lot more tension between the wealthier people and the less well off.

Social media exacerbated peoples' narcissistic tendencies and that piece took off when ******** oriented itself toward being a mobile app. That spawned snapchat, instagram, and gave rise to the concept of influencers/people doing stupid chit just for attention/to film how supposedly cool their lives were

That said, I think the biggest shift started happening in 2016 with Trump being elected. Those other 2 events were cracks in the surface, but were more or less manageable since the economy was on the up and people were still gainfully employed. For whatever reason, mental retardation and the politicization of everything happened after DT was elected. COVID made all these trends (technology obsession, social isolation, extreme politicization, etc.) a lot worse, but I really noticed things going downhill with the Trump election.

Definitley before then. I remember Dr. Jordan Peterson blowing up sometime around 2014-2016 from a viral video of him refusing to use trans pronouns and trannies screeching on University of Toronto campus.

I'm out trying to socialize now and people don't wanna leave their screens or even go outside. Cant talk to anyone. So now I'm trying to shop and no joke every place is slammed I don't get how no matter where I go people are on their screens or spending what seems to be unlimited money on random things.

Most of the things that were innovative, exciting and artistic were all over done…to the point everything just felt a remake of the original versions…everything reached a saturation point….so we can say much of what has happened in the last decade or so…feels boring or stale…
