Depression is rampant because constant dopamine hits/addiction

People are constantly looking for their next fix…sucking a vape, a cig, dip, alcohol, weed, porn, hard drugs, gambling, reels for hours, social media, excess food/snacking, caffeine, etc.

It seems 80-90% are addicted to something and the modern world looks to profit off our brains being wired for addiction.

Mentally, the strongest people conquer addictions or don't let them get a foot hold to start with.

Very true. A great deal of my behaviour is largely compulsive in nature.

Also, fewer responsibilities and nothing to do. It's hard to get addicted to stuff when you are busy all day.

Social media is very toxic, it puts you on a competition subconsciencly with all the best and most talents and all artificially enhanced people on earth. so much so that people just give up all hope of every even trying things, because why even bother you'll never be able to compete with the whole world of talent, its pointless.

why even learn a musical instrument or do anything like that , you'll likely never compete with even the dumbest moron on tiktok.

Agreed about people being addicted to social media dopamine.

But I think most claims of depression are moreso minor anxiety that everyone blows out of proportion - partially for attention and partially as a scapegoat for their problems.

Started thinking about dopamine overdose when some professor that talks health stuff was talking about how people addicted to vaping will "overload" on dopamine hits so then none of the everyday stuff is enjoyable anymore…that's where depression comes
