What do you do for a living and what hobbies do you have?
If this is a typical miscer then hobbies would be porn, video games, netflix and if so, you're destined to be alone forever.

mostly hobbies when I was younger, Car clubs/car meets, dirtbike track, fishing tournaments, bike nights, church events, etc.
Now older, most of my new friends come from my kids, their friends/classmates parents. Most have been pretty cool, different phase of life.

Last month was biking on the pinellas trail and there was a group of people with a sign that said 'stop in for prayer'. Happened to be a church that just moved in to a building backing up to the trail. Everyone was cool and seemed like genuine believers. Had the pastor and another lady text me their name/number (I don't bring my cell phone with me when I bike).
Visited their church and got a couple other people added to my phone. Went out to dinner on a Friday at Cody' Steakhouse with the pastor and two others. Invited the mid to late 20 something waitress to church the Sunday after next Sunday which was in 9 days. That was last week and waitress showed. Got her #. She said she would like to join a bicycle ministry which my idea was to put a sign on the back of the church advertising the event and the time and bike down the trail and talk with whoever wants to talk and then get lunch somewhere. It has to be co-ed because a group of 10 dudes won't be approachable.
But the social aspect is not why I visit churches. I'm devout about my faith and genuinely enjoy the company of other who are running the race on the same path. To me everything else pales in comparison to being known by God with the promise of eternal life.
And no, I'm not Ron.

The problem is, some of us simply don't want to make people from their jobs their good personal friends. It's part of the "not chitting where you eat" concept.
But yeah, that makes it a lot harder. Because I've found that the overwhelming majority of friendships people form as adults come from their jobs.

I'm wondering the same thing I haven't talked to anyone in like 8 years. Fall 2016 was the last time I actually hung out with anyone.

The “don’t chit where you eat” concept is more applicable to fuking and hooking up with your colleagues.

without encroaching on things you do on the daily- go out solo, meet a chick and start hitting it, eventually meet her group of friends and some bros will probably be around that if you get along with you could start tagging along with. As long as you arent some angry incel/cockblock, youll be fine. Just dont over-do it like a fangirl.
You might wanna meet guys in the sauna or interrupting their sets but that doesnt work for straight dudes.

Not to name names, but just read through the comments and you can tell who has real friends and who likely has no friends.
For the record, a real friend is someone who would bail your ass out of jail. A real friend is someone who if you were out of the country and got robbed, they would get you back to the US. A real friend is someone who isn't afraid to call you on your bull****. A real friend is someone who would stick by your side in a physical altercation even if you were outnumbered. A real friend does all this because he knows if roles were reversed, you would be there in his corner. It goes back to the fundamental principal that to have a friend, you have to be a friend.
On another note, I'm entering all of my business transactions for 2023 into Quick-Books and took me three hours just to do January and February. This thread is a much wanted distraction from the monotony.

For the record, it’s genuinely not my intention. I responded purely because the point you made was flawed and I wanted to elaborate on that.

Not sure. I do have a friend group but I never seem to meet new people. If I do it takes years to establish a close connection. I also never see myself or my friend group meeting new people at bars and restaurants.
