Not even sure how 'woke' this movie is, the trailers just made it out to be 1-1/2 hour of overt racism against white people. Is that even woke?

Looks like this flop premiered well behind the Bob Marley movie that's been out for a month and a half. Looks like nobody wants to see it, regardless of their politics and despite plenty of marketing. Keep your misplaced hate to yourself.

I have to think you're not - and if that's the case, let's all slow down and at least get on the same page.

If you just think this is a black-centric movie, something like the Color Purple or some movie with black actors and about the black experience, something like that -- I could see how you might get a little perturbed and respond like you just did.

However, while I did not actually see the movie, the marketing of it was entirely different. It was almost entirely about being anti-white, not promoting anyone, just demonizing white people with some light jabs at the "magical negro" trope thrown in for good measure. I don't think anyone gives a fuk about the later, it's the anti-white narrative that is the problem.



Nobody is upset with that. In fact, I'm pretty sure everyone loves Key and Peele. This isn't their funniest sketch (that would be the making of Gremlins 2), but it's funny enough.

You're correct boyo. I figured it was just another film with a black cast or non-whites playing "white" parts, but I watched the trailer and it is indeed set as some kind of parody (I hope) of white people. I'm glad it failed and it was stupid to make it in the first place.

The Little Mermaid was right at the grey zone of losing money and turning a tiny profit. Only people on the inside can say for sure.
The Marvels failed because both men and women are tired of the M-she-U. The Mary Sue trope is past stale. It and Madam Web's failures have caused upcoming film projects to fire all writers. Despite Madam Web promoting it was an all female leads, a female director, all female writing team, women weren't interested. The majority of viewers were still men, because it's a superhero film. Ditto on The Marvels. Apparently both messes of films too, as it seems the people making them have gotten creatively lazy.

Women aren't interested in the WNBA, they're not interested in movies mentioned above. The Little Mermaid is a kid film.

When you price products in America, you set a baseline price, and then you factor in how many ppl are going to steal (or in this case, pirate or sneak in) and what the cost of that stealing amounts to, and then you raise the price by those costs. SO under that price structure, white pplhave to consume in order to turn a profit.

By not consuming, you are committing violence against people of color.

It came out that Little Mermaid actually cost 300 million dollars to make, plus who knows how much in marketing, probably around 150 million, and it didn't even make 600 million dollars.

And heres a question, why DID "The Marvels" fail?

haven't seen it, but Dune was a success, and it had a white protagonist, and many white antagonists, while nonwhites were in support roles
