Most people don't actually want to think for themselves. We're wired to take the path of least resistance, which means being a follower

Followers are accepted and not ostracized by society

The goal is to turn you into a 5. It’s not that most people are most comfortable having no independent thoughts, it’s that the system is literally designed to to turn you into a 5 and mind control you

Taking your own stand, challenging authority and going against the grain almost never ends well.

This is very true.

For me personally, holding my tongue and not speaking the truth (as I can best ascertain it) literally keeps me awake at night, so I do so sparingly.

However, I have learned over my life though that some battles just arent worth the cost e.g. correcting or challenging an idiot. I actually encourage them sometimes so I can see just how stupid and dangerous they actually are.

Think for yourself. Question authority.

So good to see you once again.
I thought that you were hiding from me.
And you thought that I had run away.
Chasing a trail of smoke and reason.

Prying open my third eye

genuinely one of the best tracks ever written, never heard so much sheer 'distraught' in someones voice like Maynards. other people can do pissed off, angry, sad, etc. But Maynard does something different

Salival version is the best version. Saw both Third Eye and Push It Salival versions live in concert.

Maynard's lyrics are always on point.

god damn, seeing Tool in those days must have been something else. what are your top 5 tool tracks brah?

yeah the drummer was recently interviewed and he said all the guys in the band are always blown away by what Maynard comes up with, said it gave him goosebumps thinking about it

Yeah dude. Tool fan since the Opiate days. Second concert ever was Tool after Undertow came out. I think I've seen them at least seven times. Lost count.

Some songs I love purely for the music, others for the lyrics. If I had to pick 5 in no particular order but this is really impossible:

-Third Eye (Salival ver)
-Push it (Salival ver)
-Bottom (has a lyric section by Henry Rollins)
-Right in Two
-Pneuma
-The entire Lateralus album

Edit:
Saw them after Neil Peart (drummer) from Rush died. Danny Carey did a tribute to him. Was awesome. I'm a Rush fan too. Seen them a few times also.

yeahh man Bottom is a real underated track but I don't know what I'm saying cause it probably isn't 'underrated' by many. Dude I've never known a band have so many 8+/10 tracks it's mad. Swamp song isn't even on a list and it's insanely good

good to see you respect tracks of FI, I love them but can respect the heavier stuff too.

saw them a few years ago for the first time and it was the most surreal thing, had never heard music (esspecially live) like that being it was incredible.

I remember my mind being obliterated after 'Right in two' and danny just goes off

Swamp Song, forgot about that completely. So good. Makes me think of doing math homework. Used to jam to Tool while doing math back in middle school and HS. Lol. This bog is thick and easy to get lost in…

But yeah, FI, I didn't like the first several listens. Was kinda hating on it TBH. Mostly because it has a lot of recycled riffs. It has grown on me a ton. The Pneuma Danny Carey drumming video on YouTube brought me back around to FI again and I had more respect for it.

"cause you're a dumb and belligerent ****er!"

yeah because I'm a new fan I didn't notice the recycled riffs so i was just so hyped to hear such different music. used to love culling voices but now I realise how boring it is, it's great live though.

Invincible is also a hard hitter

they're working on a new album legit btw!
