Everyone I know who yaps about cryto is still a wagie in their cagie
Literally every single last one of them that I've heard yap about crypto currency in the last decade is still a broke wagie in their cagie.

I know a couple people IRL who claim to have made anywhere from a few hundred to a few thousand dollars off of crypto in the last 5 years or so. They never talk about their losses or the fact that a few grand isn't that great of a return for years of investment when they said it was supposed to make them all rich.

It's a scam but I wish I bought some Bitcoin when I first heard about it on the misc in 2016 or 2017. How much would $1000 be worth now?

It's probably true that the majority of "investors" are idiots that FOMO in at the peak of a bull cycle and liquidate to a loss, but there are lots of longer term investors in BTC/ETH that are up.

There are two kinds of loudmouth crypto guys.
1- the reddit type who will swear to his dying day that crypto is real and taxes are theft and govt conspiracy and all that stupid stuff.
2- the weird seemingly rich guy who lives in Ecuador in some mansion like a drug lord who is always talking about crypto but never making any sense. Like those guys making some weird crypto city down there in one of those **** holes. Its clear they just want to be out of the reach of the govt so they can avoid taxes and laws and stuff like that.

I know a couple that made 100-200k in bitcoin and moved back to their country, it’s a lot of money over there.
Most investors lose money regardless of what they invest in, because they sell when TV tells them to be scared and sell due to wars or crashes. Even investors in Peter Lynch’s Magellan Fund somehow managed to lose money on average, thou Peter made a killing. That’s because he never sold, but they did.
