They have been promising us robots since the 1920's and we have yet to have any.

Elon promises a lot of stuff without ever backing it up.
"To be a warrior is not a simple matter of wishing to be one. It is rather an endless struggle that will go on to the very last moment of our lives. Nobody is born a warrior, in exactly the same way that nobody is born an average man. We make ourselves into one or the other."– Carlos Castaneda

Elon has been wrong about so many things related to this

There were supposed to be over a million Teslas operating as Robotaxis years ago – cars are just robots on wheels, wow!

I don't think 'everyone' will have one. But I can certainly see wealthier house-holds having them. If I could pay $1000 per month for a Teslabot to do general house-hold tasks I'd pay it now.
-Maintaining my lawn/outside space.
-Cleaning my home. Dusting. Mopping. Washing dishes. Etc.
-Doing Laundry.
-Maybe helping me meal prep if not doing it all itself.
-Etc.

I'm not 'quite' there yet. But I've considered importing a live in Filipina/Laotian girl to come over and do all that schit for me. For as little as $400-500 per month salary you can get a live in 'servant.' My next house will likely be a good deal larger. And I'd really like a 1-bed 1-bath guest house on the property. If that happens I'll definitely be looking to import some house-hold 'help'.

His time-line is a bit off. But in general he delivers. Elon has his hands in a lot of pies. And its going to take longer then he thinks to develop the technology.

Teslas that are on roads today will likely never become robotaxis (srs)

Sure, there are already robotaxis operating in some areas today — arid climates because even the best tech can’t handle inclement weather.

But that’s not a matter of timing, that’s Elon being wrong about this. The dream was to flip a software switch one day and all Teslas magically become capable of Robotaxi operation, Vision-only is all that was required, etc etc.

That’s true, there are definitely no reusable rockets landing on their butts, there are no best selling electric cars in the world under 30 grand that drive themselves, that definitely is no such thing as Solar roof or energy storage, there’s certainly no such thing as PayPal, that has never happened, There is no cyber truck, there is no model three, there is no free Internet from satellites, and Tesla shareholders have never gotten their stock returns from 5 dollars to 150, about 5k adjusted for splits, none of that has ever happened.

When elongated muskrat says something, you can set your watch to it. We've had full self driving since 2017, and the brand new Tesla Roadster with jetpacks, we've had those since 2019.
When it comes your time to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with the fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song and die like a hero going home.

Robotaxis will be a thing, but the vehicles manufactured to date lack the hardware necessary to unlock SAE Level 4-5
