The devil isn't real

But society needs a scapegoat or someone to blame
For societies problems.

Why is the devil depicted as a goat? Scape goat.

The devil is the enemy and it is a real sentient being named lucifer along with others like baal, moloch, Satan etc.

He doesn't do anything to you. He likely isn't aware of you or has ever seen you. He likely has heard of you.

He can't be tormenting you and also others. He doesn't have the omni-charavteristics that God has that people often attribute to him.

He commands demons to do what they do and in that way affects you. But not directly.

I believe we ourselves can become the devil just as easily as we can recognize our God nature but in the end love triumphs over hate

The devil has been getting too much credit for all the world's ills for too long.

I'm not a Christian but if I was how could I believe in an all powerful God and an all powerful devil?

Makes much more sense to me that we ourselves have the decision to make on who we will serve

You can choose to serve god but you cannot choose to serve the Devil. He doesn't rule over anything.

You can, however, choose to serve yourself like the Devil did as you do rule over the domain of your mind.

When Christians say that the Devil led them astray they are saying that they gave into their temptations. God does not tempt, so when you convene with your temptations you convene with the Devil.

We are made in the image of God insofar that we have creative powers. The Devil cannot create but he can, through us, commandeer our divinity to create hell, first in our mind and then here on Earth.

But you cannot use the Devil as a scapegoat. You bear witness to your own wickedness, knowing you cultivated it in your mind and heart until beared fruit. If you have any remorse you cannot escape your own conviction.
The closer we approach the uncertainty of life's ending the more we wish to trade all of the things we have acquired in exchange for all of the things we have lost: wealth for youth, knowledge for fresh curiosity, resignation for hope. We'd trade our wisdom for new experiences, but it is wisdom that will teach us that at the end of the road the only new experience is death.

It's true. Look at religion for example. Let's take a look at the age old islam/Jewish debate. So before Israel became a state in 1952 or thereabouts, it was palestine.

Palestine was mixed Arab and Jewish descendants who continue to feud over the land thousands of years later. But who are these people, truly?
Jews, are the descendants of Abraham(as told by the Bible)
The story goes that Abraham wanted a child but Sara was too old ans so an Egyptian slave(arab) named hagar borne him a son named Ismael.
Ismael is the father of islam…all you have to do is Google search.

So the jews are feuding over land from….their brothers ! Arabs/Jewish people are half brothers according to their own Torah. Mohammed had the Torah when he wrote the Koran.

Okay so.here we see how easily family can become the enemy

Ismael and Isaac are half brothers!

No Christian believes the devil is all powerful.

Lucifer is a legit servant of God. He has nothing in comparison.

We ourselves are heavenly, divine, creatures separate from the other earthly things. We are uncomfortable here because we are meant for paradise and never dying, but our nature fell us from grace.

So yes, you absolutely 100% can characterize the devil within yourself. You're spot on there.

And also…

It is a real sentient creature like you, me, Jesus, Angels, and Demons.

When I say serve the devil I don't think of him as an entity that has any power. I think we have the power, but we allow guilt to come into our own heart through societal conditioning and family upbringing.

I wasn't talking about me using the devil as a scapegoat but YES..I actually could use the devil as a scapegoat? How could i not? If something bad happens then i COULD blame it on the devil. If there's something or someone unsavory to my tastes in my culture I COULD say that person is possessed by Satan, such as is happening with Taylor swift by some people. What I am saying is it takes a supremely disciplined and unbiased, honest person to NOT do these things.

The problem doesn't exist out there. The problem exists in how we perceive the problem and our reaction to it.

And this reminds me of something from a book recommended to me. The slippery slope between what is right and wrong, and how quickly we can end up on the wrong side of things.

Sorry for posting what other people said so much, but I’m sincerely not able to express these things as well as others already have. And “having the devil inside you” is a big issue with a lot of angles.

Who gets to define justice, though? I'm not talking about in courts and justice system, because obviously that stuff is cut and dry.

Who gets to define right and wrong for example in legislating over who one person can marry? This is a clear cut example I think of where religious beliefs have infiltrated right into the legislature and affected lives of many. People used to be killed for same sex interaction. It would have been better for people to keep their mouths shut and mind their own business

I don't find this question difficult.

It is both God and, through God's creation of nature, it is nature that justice is decided.

Justice is the decision that will lead to prosperity.

And injustice is the decision that will lead to destruction.

It's really that simple.

I have more to say and had typed it but realized I need to think it through. Maybe I can get back to this thread later when my attention isn't divided. Good topic.

I guess if you think about it, Desire is the devil; that tipping point where you have what you want, and yet you are still not satisfied. That's why they say that it's when you are at the top, that's when the devil comes for you.
