EA Sports College Football 25
I get the feeling there aren't many people who play sports games on the Misc. Can't say I blame those who don't given the direction they've gone in the last 15 years. But as a huge sports fan who plays video games I usually get one every few years to get my fix.
So we're finally getting a new college football game this year. It's releasing on July 19 (July 16 early access) and a full reveal is coming tomorrow. Assuming they don't remove something like editing players in a dynasty, or ability to customize conferences, I'll be getting it. Just getting the standard edition though. The deluxe edition just has a bunch of Ultimate Team stuff and I won't be playing that mode. Plus early access. But I've waited 10 years for a college football game already; I can save $30 and wait an extra 3 days lol.

REDWOOD CITY, Calif. – May 16, 2024 – Electronic Arts Inc. (NASDAQ: EA), in advance of the game's full reveal tomorrow, today unveiled the historic covers of EA SPORTS™ College Football 25, which feature a trio of current college football stars – Michigan running back Donovan Edwards, Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers, and Colorado wide receiver/defensive back Travis Hunter. Fans can soon experience explosive gameplay variety across 134 FBS schools and immerse themselves in the iconic atmospheres of college football when EA SPORTS College Football 25 launches worldwide on July 19 on PlayStation®5 and Xbox Series X|S.
“Donovan, Quinn and Travis are extraordinary talents who impressed and entertained millions of college football fans on the field last season and are poised to do so again this year,” said Daryl Holt, SVP and Group GM, EA SPORTS. “We’re proud to be able to incorporate thousands of current athletes in College Football 25, and featuring this trio of playmakers and their iconic college programs on the cover is a perfect fit as we usher in a new era for EA SPORTS and college football. I can't wait for the world to learn more about the game tomorrow."
All the cover stars built enviable resumes last season. Edwards excelled in the Wolverines’ national championship run last season, where he became the first player in College Football Playoff (CFP) history with two rushing touchdowns of 40-plus yards in the title game. Ewers, one of the top quarterbacks in the nation, led the Longhorns to a 12-2 record and a Big 12 Championship last year, while Hunter is one of the most exciting two-way players in college football history and stands as the only FBS player in at least the last 20 seasons to record 100 yards receiving and an interception in the same game.
“EA SPORTS games are legendary and to see myself on the cover of College Football 25 is truly surreal,” said Edwards. “It’s a huge honor to join past Michigan greats as a cover athlete on an EA SPORTS college football game and keep the tradition going.”
“To represent the burnt orange on the real and virtual gridirons is such an honor. EA SPORTS games were the first place I lived out my childhood dream of playing for the Longhorns, so it’s a full-circle moment to now be on the cover of College Football 25,” said Ewers.
“I couldn’t be more pumped to be part of College Football 25 and represent my Buffaloes on the cover of a game with so much excitement behind it,” said Hunter. “I can’t wait to play and see myself, my teammates and my school in the game.”
Standard and Deluxe editions of College Football 25 are available for pre-order* now but fans seeking the ultimate football experience can pre-order a unique offering from EA SPORTS – the EA SPORTS™ MVP Bundle**, which includes the deluxe editions of EA SPORTS College Football 25 and Madden NFL 25 with 3-day early access for both titles and a variety of other benefits.
More College Football 25 details will be unveiled tomorrow and throughout the summer.

Huge college and NFL football fan. Played the old NCAA football games. Disappointed this is also made by EA. Is this gonna be just Madden with college players? Or are they putting actual work into the game?

Would be nice if there were settings to limit NIL and transfer of players so it's a more classic experience, but not holding my breath on that.

My thoughts so far:
1. I have no idea what "wide open gameplay" means, and that has me intrigued as well as concerned. Mostly concerned that it will just be QBs slinging it completing 75% of passes.
2. Home field advantage thing is nice. I expect it to be something like it was in past NCAA games. Winning home games gave you a bigger home field advantage as time went on in a Dynasty, so like if you were a top 5 home field advantage team the crowd effect when the other team was on offense in key situations was palpable. Hope they don't lean into the recent "momentum" BS that's been in recent Maddens though.
3. SO HYPED that Teambuilder is back. I loved this feature before and I can't wait to create custom schools or existing schools with better uniforms if the game doesn't have the options that I want for that.
4. Kind of concerned about the wear and tear thing. I know others are hyped about it, but I never really liked that feature in the NBA 2k games. I don't mind it being in the game, but I hope it is an option I can toggle off for my Dynasty.
5. Looks like we didn't get any info on my main questions that would be dealbreakers for me yet. Still waiting for info if we can fully edit players in a Dynasty. I don't think they'd be dumb enough to leave that feature out, but it isn't in NHL Franchise, and they did remove from Madden for a year so I'm going to be nervous about this until we get confirmation. This would be a dealbreaker for me.
6. And my second concern would be custom conferences in Dynasty. Again I don't think they would leave this out, especially since it was in NCAA Football 10 through 14 (if not earlier), plus the devs acknowledge the landscape of college football has changed a lot in a short time, and has the potential to do more of that in the future, and they wanted to give players the tools to adjust to that. Definitely leads me to believe it will be in the game, but again I will be nervous about that until it is confirmed. I don't like all the new frankenstein conferences lol, so I plan on going back to more regionally coherent conferences. I haven't decided yet if this would be a dealbreaker. I'm leaning towards no, but it would be highly disappointing if it were left out.

All depends on the gameplay. I get Madden every year and IMO the gameplay is legitimately good and thats all I really care about.
NCAA needs to not be a clone and feel more like college, if it does that I'm in.

Pat McAfee show had Kirk Herbstreit on today to talk about the game. He didn't talk about anything we don't already know, just about the presentation side of things, and how they hope the game can help fans understand how the new playoff works. PMS Youtube didn't upload the full segment, but here's what they did upload:
Too bad Herbstreit turned out to be a fgt.

They had Ultimate Team in NCAA 14 as well. I won't even start that mode up lol. Devs have stated Dynasty will be the focus, and they are being very tight about letting info about that mode slip so I'm hopeful.

Well I'd definitely buy this over another Madden, but I can wait for a sale.

I'm excited for it because I love football, and hate so much about madden, franchise and realism is thrown to the side for money, highlights, and dancing…
but I know its going to be a disappointment, I just hope its realistic in dynasty and its not all about ultimate team or paying to win. Even if it sucks people are still gonna buy it because its the only option to play a cfb game
I'm kind of surprised teambuilder was brought back since in madden you haven't been able to create your own team in like 10 years…

I'm gonna wait a while since it's EA. Not trusting it.

I wonder if it will just be pick an IRL stadium for your Teambuilder team, or if they will have a few template options like Madden does when you relocate a team or build a new stadium.

Dynasty should be fine, and they've said it will be a focus. My main concerns remain if we can edit players and recruits in a Dynasty, and if we can change the size of the playoff. We should at least be able to edit attributes, but not sure if we'll be able to edit names, numbers, height/weight of real life players that are in the game. That part isn't a big deal for me personally (aside from jersey numbers) but I know a lot of people rely on that type of thing in order to make rosters with past teams. And if it's like before there was a limit on the number of Teambuilder teams you could have so that's not an option there. I also hope there is a slider or option to tune down the number and frequency of transfers as I don't want a completely different roster every year for my team.

Bought a Series S just for this. Enjoying 3 months of gamepass that came with the console.
Already pre ordered just waiting on the 19th…apparently I missed out on the early access.

I clicked the gaming and technology section think I would make a CFB25 thread since I’ve never seen one…and I see OP delivered over a month ago.
I’m pumped for this game and dynasty mode 100%
Yes, it’s on my bothers me that it’s not gonna be able to physics based engine and will use the same engine as madden. But, it’s going to be incredible. Just to have a new college football game. Yall see the dynasty deep dives video they dropped on Tuesday? It was absolutely awesome.
This is going to be a great game

And the graphics and setting just look like they really nailed the college football atmosphere. By one reservation is that the madden engines gonna have them cotton too many animations. But, I think I’m leaving behind the last gen it’s going to give them the ability to really put a lot of more into this and let’s face it if you just give me NCAA 13 with way better graphics in presentation im in.

What other note that really blew my mind was that they have the recruiting even down to metropolitan areas… I always thought that would be a nice touch and I really think it’s insanely cool that they did that. For example, we no longer just have to have clout/pipeline state for recruiting in “Florida” or “Georgia” as if it’s some totally homogenous state. Now, recruiting a bunch of redneck kids from the panhandle might not necessarily help you recruit from inner-city Miami. Also, metro-Atlanta will be separate and distinct from southern Georgia. Little things like that just seem really cool. I also love how recruits can lock you out with their “deal breakers.” I hope that makes it a lot less easy to game the AI. Bottom line is you’re going to have five star recruits that simply do not want to play for a team that doesn’t have good television exposure… or they prefer to stay close to home… that’s not something you’re gonna be able to throw it out appointed if it’s a dealbreaker for them and your **** out of luck. I like that.
I’m also kinda pissed that I got Covid yesterday 😂 I mean, could I seriously not have gotten Covid two weeks later? Would’ve been so much better to be all “ah ****, guess I have to isolate with CFB 25”…but first world problems I guess
