How often do you play games with friends these days?

How an adult with family, job, responsibilities and other hobbies outside of gaming has time to organize a night "with the boys" to play video games escapes me.

When I was a child I cherished playing halo over lans with many friends, or playing cod with the Boyz in high school but now it is so difficult to organize people to play online and when you do, people need so much time in advance and then likely drop out from other commitments anyways.

Gaming takes a back seat for those with actual lives...

I'm glad there's still great indies, single player games and retro titles to keep a gamer happy in these days of a lack of time.

This video made me think of the misc and inspired this topic...

For me, this is the beauty of gaming on Steam. It's more than just a gaming platform, it's basically social media. Me and my friends don't play much together anymore. Adult life has us having very different schedules. But they still play games everyday. And on Steam, even when I only see their status that they played a game recently, or when I'm playing a game and I can see on my friends list that they're playing other games, that makes me feel like we're just in a game room and we're all still playing together, just different games each.

It's more strange for me to overthink and be dramatic about how we play less with friends these days. It is what it is, we've gotten old. I'm just happy that I still see my friends gaming on my Steam friends list even when we're not playing the same games.

I'm enjoying a great single player game. Buddy #1 and #2 are also enjoying their single player games. Sounds chill to me.

Do you feel the same when you log in to face book and see "friends" online who don't talk to you ? When you see these old "friends" posting pictures of their lives, holidays etc does it make you feel included ?

Interesting how you equate seeing friends playing games on a gaming platform to them posting pics on fb about their lives. The whole point is that despite adult life, they still find some time to play games. Your IQ is really low and it's easy to tell with the passive aggressiveness of your posts.

No wonder you're depressed.

Depends on the friends

Some, rarely.

Apex friends, like once a week. Sometimes more, sometimes less

It's not really hard to send a text and figure out a time we can sit and play for a n hour or two. Sometimes it's spur of the moment, sometimes we plan ahead. As with anything worth doing, it sometimes takes a little effort.

solo play nowadays between work and other obligations. the old days of couch or online multiplayer between friends is dead. to be fair I wouldnt be interested in most modern gen z multiplayer games though. I liked the old days of older titles of madden and halo.

It's easy to post a forum post and check back later, it's something you'd know if you were a professional. Much less time commitment then gaming.

Everyone who has a life is like 'phuck these losers." E-points and all that bullchit is for people who have no life.

You have 60+ posts since 12am this morning, and usually you post thru all hours of the night. I'm not really sure how you make comment like that when anyone can click your username and see how insanely frequently you post here, and even what times you do lmao. You spend the majority of days posting almost all day. 50+ posts in a day is like your minimum.

But it's somehow impossible for a grown man to find an hour or two per week that lines up with another human being to play a video game together? But it's perfectly reasonable that a grown man with a job and a life can be internet posting sometimes 100 times per day until 5 am?

Way to post some unhinged personal attack response to a comment that had nothing to do with you. Clearly you seethe at my presence and obsess over what I do while coming up with your own fantasies about me. Just lol @ this level of addiction to e-drama.

Watch him reply with some meaningless gif or then start deflecting by calling you some kinda toxic internet tough guy cry bully lol.

Best case scenario he makes his usual passive-aggressive threads on the misc without alluding to you directly since those are always hilarious as it backfires on him on always.

Edit - holy fukk lmfaooooo I was right. Meaningless gif confirmed. Now we patiently wait for the main misc thread ...... Fairy crew we outchea

This. It's really not hard to look at his posting times and realize he stays up all night on the internet trolling forums, then sleeps all day.

He spent his Friday night making a thread about e drama then proceeding to post the entire night. And I mean, literally, the entire night.

It's 10am here on the east coast so probably his bedtime

Wow, that's a lot of obsessing over me.
