What's the reasoning behind giving random known names power in the gaming industry. I imagine Billionaires couldn't care less about 'vidya' games and how they're made.

Found this article, didn't read it yet, but the title alone is attention grabbing. What's the end game of all of this? Stopping overpopulation? Stopping global warming? Stopping some end of world scenario we all don't know about?
