How come Thanos couldn't just sterilize half the population?

We'd get all the benefits without him being evil

Families could still be together. People could still live a normal life. Government could prepare for lesser Pippa

He was an insane megalomaniac, he could have also done any number of things like double the universe's resources, shrink everyone by 50%, etc

Sterilization would stop overpopulation without making people disappear. He'd still be villainized because of the eugenics viewpoint.

Thanos wanted an immediate fix. Sterilization would still leave too many people with not enough resources.

Who is Thanos?

Is he a movie superhero?

If so then I guess the reason he can or cant do anything is… "because he's not real."
