Lease vs Buy new car?

What are some people’s thoughts of either.. I’m leaning towards leasing but haven’t done it before but only heard positive things

Since you're too poor to buy one, lease is the answer

Kinda what I was thinking. Don’t think I’d go over the mileage, and think that’s the only real negative I’ve heard so far

Lease is throwing away money. Only do it if you're rich.

Depends on what you plan to do with vehicle. You plan to live life on the edge or keep it for many, many years to come.

There used to be a time when it made more sense to lease the car THEN buy it, if you really wanted it. By the time the lease expires the car has depreciated in value more than what you paid for the lease, lol.

Now, not so much…

When I made less money I was all about buying used and paying cash. Now I make enough that the cost of the lease is irrelevant. Do whatever gets you the lowest price. If you're gonna get rid of it in 2 years, just lease.

If you own a business, leasing is okay for tax purposes.

Pros: can upgrade car every few years, lower payment, tax benefits, usually warranty covers the duration of the lease.
Cons: You don't have an asset, any damage needs to be fixed upon lease turn in, buyout is usually higher than the car is worth at that point if you like it.

lease = dont need to do any maintenece. never have to change the oil or rotate the tires. drive it hard af. do burn outs, go over jumps

end up paying a bit more over time though

still a good idea. you might get lucky on the residual. lets say you only put 10k out of 36k miles on it, so its worth maybe 30k instead of the predicted 20k. the dealership will want it back. either take the car for 20k or use that as a negotiating tactic to get a ton off a new lease

There's almost no maintenance on a brand new car. It's like $60 and 30 minutes to change my own oil with full synthetic. Why would I base a 40k decision on 60 dollars

if you take care of your vehicle then no reason to. im saying if you dont care and neglect the sh*t out of it, leasing is the way to go
