Teacher union run schools are to often failing students. Having the option of school choice is important for parents and students.

“We haven’t suspended any sort of assessments,” state board member Vicky López Sánchez, a dean at Portland Community College, said during Thursday’s meeting. “The only thing we are suspending is the inappropriate use of how those assessments were being used. I think that really is in the best interest of Oregon students.”

I support educational reforms. I don't think our system is good. I also don't think standardized testing is particularly helpful. The technique used in teaching medical residents where you badger them with questions and keep having them revisit old concepts is the best way to teach people. Unfortunately, this does not work for large class sizes.
