I think a lot of things can cause it. The main thing is probably starting drugs and alcohol at a young age, they stop emotionally developing. In my own experience, I got prescribed high doses of ADHD meds when I was like 12 and got hooked to them when I was 17. Was a raging alcoholic by the time I was 21 and used a bunch of other chit regularly too. I stopped emotionally developing when I was 12… I made terrible decisions and was homeless for a while. Af another point I actually thought it would be a good idea to stock up on a bunch of ammo, say fuk it and live off the land in the mountains lmao. The good news is it is reversible if you get sober and hit the normal life milestones while sober you can catch up with your age emotionally. I got sober when I was 26 and learned how to be a reliable employee, how to manage anger without snapping or getting violent, how to be in a relationship, how to invest money, how to deal with stress and loss without drugs..

Other chit can cause it too though, some people are just psychopaths or narcissists. Severe childhood trauma. Brain trauma too, I knew a guy that had a really major concussion and was never the same. Certain drugs, including cannabis, impair the development of this area of your brain, and stopping those drugs doesn't fix the damage.

Taking these drugs below the age of 25 can permanently impair your impulse control. This is why you see many teen drug users in and out of prison their entire lives, as they just cannot control their violent and antisocial impulses.
