Grimms fairytales are fascinating.

They say that they were worried germany would be attacked and their history forgotten so thats why they wrote down all those old tales.

Most were tweaked a bit with time but the general themes are still there.

have to wonder just what the hell was going on back then.

the one I cant get out of my mind is the Pied Piper. its generally believed that this event actually happened and scholars have traced it back practically to the time of the event in 1284.

Even have an eye witness account of it.

So if that one really happened, what about all the other ones? is there some measure of truth to them as well?

Either way, no way in hell am I walking around some dark ass german forest. God only knows what is lurking around out there.

Fairy Tales were originally written for adults and were usually erotica - for example, the wolf in Little Red Riding Hood wasn't trying to eat her but rape her.

Because they couldn’t come close to being as bleak as Russian faery tales

Look at the time they were written in; wars, disease, starvation, famine, cruelty, slavery, death etc were all a part of daily life and author's didn't need to or want to sugarcoat the repercussions of what could happen if you weren't careful or if you took unnecessary risks or if curiosity got the best of you despite warnings etc.
